[Dashboard] Route vault operations through api-server - #8916
Conversation
Server wallet listing and creation, project wallet selection, access token management and service account rotation now call the api-server vault endpoints instead of talking to vault directly. - add @/actions/vault as the typed client for /v1/teams/:team/projects/:project/vault - server components and server actions no longer construct a vault client - apiServerProxy accepts PATCH Creating a vault service account still uses the SDK; there is no api-server endpoint for it yet. WalkthroughThe dashboard now uses server-side Vault actions for project-scoped wallet and credential operations. EVM and Solana wallet pages use typed listing helpers. Vault token and service-account flows use project-aware credentials and server actions. ChangesVault server operations
Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to The dashboard now routes most vault operations through the API server. The PR is mergeable with owner awareness for a bounded wallet-selection issue when the configured wallet is beyond the first page and a minor unlock-dialog behavior issue where pressing Enter leaves the dialog open. Full details: Title checkExplanation The title clearly and concisely describes the main change: routing dashboard vault operations through api-server. It uses the Dashboard scope and is specific enough for repository history, although it does not include the template’s optional Feature/Fix prefix. Full details: Description checkExplanation The description explains the migration scope, lists the main endpoint and client changes, identifies the SDK operation that remains, documents important behavior changes, and reports validation checks. It does not use a separate "How to test" heading, but it provides sufficient testing information.

Moves the dashboard's vault operations off the vault SDK and onto the api-server vault endpoints, so no vault access happens from the browser or from Next.js server components.

@/actions/vault(new) — typed client for/v1/teams/:team/projects/:project/vault, built onapiServerProxyso the auth token is attached server-side.GET/POST .../vault/walletsreplaceslistEoas/createEoa/listSolanaAccounts/createSolanaAccount. EVM and Solana are one endpoint discriminated bychainType; the server applies the project/type filtering that the client used to do.PATCH .../vault/project-walletreplaces the read-modify-write of the wholeservicesarray.GET/POST/DELETE .../vault/access-tokensreplace the SDK calls. Masked-vs-revealed now comes from the response (accessToken, maskedAccessToken, revealed) rather than substring-matching the token. The unlock dialog sends the project secret key for a managed vault and the admin key for an ejected one, matching what the endpoint expects.POST .../vault/service-account/rotate. The server reads the rotation code and stored credentials itself; the client sends onlyprojectSecretKey. An ejected vault gets the new admin key and wallet access token back and keeps the existing download + confirmation flow; a managed vault gets a masked admin key, since its credentials are re-encrypted server-side and never leave.apiServerProxyacceptsPATCH.Not migrated
Creating a vault service account (
createVaultAccountAndAccessToken, plus the Solana permission upgrade that shares its token-minting helpers) still uses the SDK — there is no api-server endpoint for it.NEXT_PUBLIC_THIRDWEB_VAULT_URLstays for that reason.Notes
