…X-4591) - readUInt64LE throws InvalidFileError on values beyond MAX_SAFE_INTEGER - ZipReader reads every range through a checked helper that rejects non-integer/negative ranges, ranges extending past the start of the central directory, and short reads - validate the local header signature and that each entry's data ends before the central directory - validate payload segment offset/size against the payload entry size - wrap manifest JSON parse failures in InvalidFileError - pin that the writer always emits payload.isEncrypted: true - an oversized aliased manifest entry (platform#3513 fixture) is now rejected while reading the central directory; adjust that test to assert the error still names the spec entry rather than falling back Signed-off-by: Dave Mihalcik <dmihalcik@virtru.com>

`dataRegionEnd` and clear it before reading the end-of-central-directory record
and central directory. Restore the saved boundary and rethrow if any step fails;
retain the newly determined boundary after success so repeated calls work
without leaving stale state after a failed retry.

Cross-origin responses hide Content-Range unless exposed, and presigned GET URLs or strict servers reject HEAD. Failing closed there broke remote decrypts that worked before. Try HEAD once and continue without a length if it fails; ZipReader still bounds entry data and rejects short reads. Signed-off-by: Dave Mihalcik <dmihalcik@virtru.com>
Require stored entries whose compressed and uncompressed sizes agree, so the manifest read and the entry data bound cover the same bytes. Reject manifests that parse to something other than a JSON object instead of failing later with a TypeError. Signed-off-by: Dave Mihalcik <dmihalcik@virtru.com>
Pass readRange a structure name rather than a 'truncated' message, so range errors no longer claim truncation; short reads still say 'truncated'. Document readRange, dataRegionEnd and fromUrl bounds behaviour, and move the fallback-resolution rationale to the fixture that still exercises it. Signed-off-by: Dave Mihalcik <dmihalcik@virtru.com>
Add a successful remote archive read, exact and one-past bounds for remote lengths and the central directory, a hostile local header extra field, an unrepresentable header end and an empty trailing segment. Check that malformed central directories reject with InvalidFileError. Signed-off-by: Dave Mihalcik <dmihalcik@virtru.com>

SonarCloud feedback is a nit on a test

Jira: https://virtru.atlassian.net/browse/DSPX-4591
Stacked on #1017 (
DSPX-4591-zip64-conformance). Retarget tomainafter it merges.Related DSPX-4591 PRs: #1086 (writer data descriptor), #1087 (bounds-checked
readUInt16LE/readUInt32LEandfromUrlranges). Both are independent and based onmain. The manifest cap removal that used to be this PR's second commit is now #1088 (DSPX-4651), stacked on this one.Related: opentdf/platform#4202 (Go: DSPX-5102, Java: DSPX-5103). This is the web-sdk counterpart for findings 5 and 6.
What / why
Finding 5: untyped error on ZIP64 overflow.
readUInt64LEthrew a plainError, and nothing betweengetCentralDirectoryandloadTDFStreamwrapped it. It now throwsInvalidFileError.Finding 6: no file-bounds checks. An out-of-range offset that was still a safe integer led to an empty
.sliceon buffer and Blob sources.readUInt16LEthen readundefinedas 0 (that part is fixed in #1087), and the read ended in a genericSyntaxErrorfromJSON.parse(''). WithfromUrl, the hostile value went straight into an HTTP Range header. Changes:ZipReadernow goes through one checkedreadRangehelper. It rejects ranges that are non-integer, negative or inverted. It rejects ranges that end past the start of the central directory, before anything is sliced or fetched. It also rejects short reads (and over-long ones, e.g. a server that ignoresRange).Chunkerdoes not expose the source length, so the central directory offset serves as the upper bound. APPNOTE 4.3.6 puts local headers and file data before the central directory, so the bound works for buffer, Blob, chunker and remote sources alike, and no extra round trip is needed to learn the length.adjustHeaderschecks the local file header signature (0x04034b50). After the local header length is recomputed, it checks thatoffset + headerLength + compressedSizeends before the central directory.getPayloadSegmentchecks that the segment offset and size (which come from the manifest, so they are untrusted) are non-negative safe integers within the payload entry'scompressedSize.InvalidFileError.payload.isEncryptedbehaviour is unchanged: the reader still ignores it. This PR adds a test pinning that the writer always emitsisEncrypted: true.Adjusted test from
main:manifest-entry-name.spec.ts(platform#3513). Its "oversized spec-named entry shadowing a valid non-aligned one" fixture aliases a 128 MiBmanifest.jsonrecord onto a small entry. That entry used to fail later on the 10 MB manifest cap. It now fails earlier, ingetCentralDirectory, because the entry runs past the start of the central directory. The test still checks the property it was written for: decrypt andgetPolicyIdfail with anInvalidFileErrorthat namesmanifest.json, and never fall back to0.manifest.json. The "fixture is readable" case now checks the non-aligned manifest in the archive without the shadow entry, and a new case checks that the shadowed archive's central directory is rejected.Tests
