Current reconciliation — add5bfc

Main 2e6cee003 is integrated. Roadmap conflict resolved preserving the system-reader catalogue and read-only TUI; initiative index and current design reconciled. Local Go tests/vet/build, 70 combined process/proof tests, Markdown links, stale wording and Commitrail checks pass. Independent reconciliation review passed and closed DOC-RECON-001/002/003.

Ready for independent human approval on add5bfce77701bbcec49724d38f1b2912a4785a1. Not merged or published.

  • Agent Gates 40084727038: passed.
  • Native proof 40084727028: all four platforms and assembly passed; canonical receipts independently verified 31/31/31/29 completed terminal tests. Publication correctly skipped.
  • Backend 40084727030: both CLI integration jobs, all 17 lanes, full-suite and required final test passed. Independent canonical aggregate validation passed: 10,878 unique collected/completed tests, exact matching multisets, zero skips/deselections/interruption. Run-summary SHA-256: d1de777bdfe2ce17acd6c3b6e323dd7efd645b4d28ee2a2852cef480bb1e4cf9.
  • Tested merge 84043c5f71b6cc2d8d01e797af028b297c81ca2f has exact current base/head parents and the same tree as the reviewed head. Final GitHub read: non-draft, mergeable/clean, no review threads. CodeRabbit is rate-limited, not a fresh approval.
  • Metadata-only skipped runs are not test proof. Historical failures and low-risk uncertainties below remain recorded. Binary distribution issue Distribute installable Workstream CLI binaries #562 stays open: release environment and immutable-tag protections remain unverified; no public release exists.

The detailed evidence below is historical and bound to its named heads; it is not relabelled as current-head proof.

Change

WS-CLI-001-48 — opt-in read-only contributor terminal workbench.

Current head: 19023fb6446aa779f0f880e97cbf7b4e966db0a7. Ready for independent human review and approval:
fresh Backend
and native proof
both passed, as did Agent Gates. Final exact-head hosted evidence is independently
verified: 17 backend lanes, 10,864 unique collected/completed tests, zero skips,
deselections or interruptions; real API drill, source custody and cleanup passed.
Final CLI partitions passed 251/66/200 and 24/1/3 cases with cleanup. Four native
receipts passed 31/31/31/29 cases; merge feb3dbd60 has the reviewed head's exact
tree and parents main 733c752f plus this head. The successful 1eb0895f7
evidence below is historical/compatible,
not relabeled as execution of this scheduling repair.

Goal

Browse exact-grant projects, Ready work, active assignments and owned submissions without copying IDs, while preserving explicit scriptable commands and backend authority.

Intent And Planning Context

Change record owns scope, nine existing typed reads, acceptance criteria and later boundaries. Screen contract separates this implementation from proposed extensions.

What Changed / Design Chosen

  • One workstream tui [--plain] in the existing Go binary; Bubble Tea/Bubbles/Lip Gloss, directly using the shared API client.
  • Explicit one-page navigation, fresh exact details/context/intake, bounded inert CLI handoffs, no writes/downloads/polling or local authority engine.
  • Generation-bound reads, fresh-denial purge, escaped terminal text, bounded errors and terminal cleanup.
  • Real PTY/ConPTY process tests and an isolated hash-locked native test runner with exact collection/report reconciliation. Existing native release gates and assets are retained.

Why / Alternatives Rejected

No parallel API client, shell-out UI, generic operation journal, unsupported backend workflow or automatic whole-export traversal. Detailed findings/evidence remain manual CLI handoffs until their typed page ports exist.

Scope Control

All changes are within the reviewed record allowlist. This is larger than the usual L1 guideline: it includes the imported design/record, the first runtime and focused four-platform test plumbing. Reviews are split by runtime, native proof and product/documentation cones; this is one bounded nine-read client feature, not a backend lifecycle expansion. No backend production changes are introduced by this PR.

Product Behavior

No Workstream lifecycle, authorization, acceptance or compensation semantics change. Client presentation changes only. Profile reads retain existing backend admission/audit effects.

Evidence

  • Runtime source before final denial-purge repair: full Go tests, vet, race tests, module verification and trimpath build passed.
  • Prior head 1eb0895f7e45132c83574bd5014f0da778a265c7: native release checks passed Linux x86-64, macOS x86-64, Apple Silicon and Windows x86-64. Independently verified receipts bind merge checkout b2ba46c756a4d439d96db90f13e94f1dd7a0e40d to main 733c752f plus that head: 31 process cases on each POSIX platform and 29 on Windows, with no skips/deselections/xfails or missing/duplicate executions. Assembly passed; publication was intentionally skipped.
  • Real Flow-token/PostgreSQL proof at runtime head f35c6bdd: all nine positive reads, exact navigation, distinct-manager grant revocation and content purge, unchanged product facts except permitted read audit; cleanup confirmed. Later commits change test diagnostics, native observation, documentation and CI partitioning, not production runtime. This is compatible prior runtime proof, not a claim that its binary was built from 1eb0895f.
  • Combined local terminal/runner proof: 63 passed at e71b7863, using the unchanged f35c6bdd runtime binary. Focused denied-session model and four real-process status cases passed after the selector-purge repair.
  • Current CI partition repair: all 29 lightweight gates, Commitrail, seven Markdown-link checks and diff checks passed. Agent Gates and Full Backend CI, including suite completeness, passed.

Acceptance Criteria Proof / Test Delta

Added model/query, hostile-text/layout, output-error cleanup, real socket/terminal, signed public-API and native execution-accounting regressions. Existing explicit CLI tests remain. The only existing fixture change defers cryptography imports until the canonical TLS/HTTP2 fixture is used; its real GOAWAY regression passes. No tests removed; native Windows must execute, not skip. POSIX-only SIGTERM is explicitly platform-specific, not claimed on Windows.

Impact-Routed Reviewer Results

These are non-authoritative summaries of private reviewer sessions, not separate independent votes for each lens.

  • Historical a3c6769f: grouped runtime architecture/reuse, native CI/security/reuse and product/operations passed; security/QA/docs identified selector purge, committed signal proof and stale documentation findings.
  • Runtime security replay at clean f35c6bdd passed TUI-SEC-001 repair with model and real-process checks. Production runtime is unchanged since that reviewed head. Signal proof and documentation findings were repaired and replayed in the native review cone.
  • Native/CI final review at clean e71b7863 passed with low residual risks, including actual four-platform receipts and the Darwin terminal-restoration repair. Exact equality is retained; a deliberately raw terminal must still be rejected.
  • CI review of exact e71b7863..1eb0895f passed: the unchanged 25 guide-download cases move once from the broad HTTP group into the existing guide group. Collection and an omitted-group mutation protect against lost tests.
  • QA-TUI-002 is closed as a low, nonblocking uncertainty: one local early child exit was not reproduced with improved exit-code diagnostics. It is not claimed fixed or assigned an unproven cause.

External Review

CodeRabbit performed a fresh substantive review at a9178a0b3, with one trivial diagnostic finding and no review threads. That finding is repaired in 19023fb64: fixed ProofError reasons are printed, but foreign exception messages remain concealed. Three regression cases protect the reason and secret-bearing filesystem/parsing errors; all 35 verifier tests and Ruff passed. Focused independent CI/security/test-delta review passed exact clean 19023fb64, with no protocol, selection or exit changes. The external review predates this two-file repair and is not relabeled as review of it; the new-head external attempt was rate-limited, not substantive approval. No unresolved review threads remain.

CI And Gate Integrity

Existing matrix, timeouts, permissions, checks, release controls and asset allowlists are preserved. New test receipts reject empty/missing/duplicate/skipped/deselected/xfail/XPASS/error/interrupted execution and are separate from release assets. Exact wheel hashes and transitive pins are installed in a fresh environment. No production settings, tag or release publication is changed.

Two earlier full CLI groups exceeded their unchanged 300-second budget. The first split isolated native TUI proof; the second moved the unchanged guide-download group, including deliberate deadline waits, into the existing guide group. Six groups and the 15-minute job budget remain; no retry, timeout increase, skipped failure or weakened assertion. Current complete CLI job passed in 12m42s: broad HTTP 251, dedicated TUI/proof 63, guide HTTP 200, native public API 24 (including the real TUI journey), self-service 1 and batch 3. Database/provider cleanup passed. Historical failed/cancelled runs remain evidence, not passes.

That successful prior run did not establish sufficient single-job margin: its
unchanged-source ready-state run 40014721395 hit the 15-minute cumulative
limit during batch, after all earlier groups passed. The reviewed a9178a0b3
repair uses a closed http/api matrix with fail-fast disabled. The same six
commands execute exactly once (three per partition), with the same 300-second
group and 15-minute per-job limits, independent exact-source build/PG/MinIO
setup and cleanup, and unchanged aggregate Backend requirements. No binary
handoff, retry or test weakening. Thirty local gates passed; the strengthened
focused pair passed, and six partition-bypass mutations were rejected.
Grouped CI-integrity/test-delta/reuse review passed exact clean a9178a0b3.
Hosted a9178a0b3 proved both partitions: HTTP passed in 9m41s (251/63/200
cases), API in 4m13s (24/1/3), including both cleanups. All four native receipts
were independently validated at that head. Its superseded backend run was
cancelled after the diagnostic fix; it is not a full-suite pass. Fresh final-head
execution subsequently passed: HTTP in 9m45s and API in 5m32s, with both cleanups.
The three added verifier cases make the TUI/proof group 66 cases instead of 63.

Remaining Risks / Follow-Up Work

Fresh required checks passed; independent human approval and explicit merge authorization remain required. The unchanged diagnostic eight-minute Backend target remains unmet (1783.631 seconds); it is not a gating threshold. One prior local process exit lacks a proven cause; repeated process suites and hosted native runs pass. A separate local gate run hit a Python SIGSEGV in an unchanged fake-uv probe; its focused and complete reruns passed without suppressing the original failure. Terminal dependencies add startup/binary cost; local measurements are diagnostic, not a cross-platform performance guarantee. Accessibility certification is not claimed. In-TUI evidence/findings, mutations/recovery and management remain separate; first public binary publication remains issue #562 and is not completed here.

Human Review Focus

Inspect denial/stale-response handling, terminal cleanup and hostile text, exact locked terms, honest manual handoffs, native execution evidence and scope size. A local UI is not hosted deployment or finished human-review/payment workflow.

Human Merge Ownership

No merge is authorized or performed. Human approval of the current head remains required.

Walkthrough

Adds an optional read-only contributor TUI to the Go CLI. The interface browses projects, Ready tasks, active assignments, and submissions through existing typed reads. It adds native terminal tests and CI proof that validates complete test runs across supported release targets.

Changes: Contributor TUI and native validation

Layer / File(s) Summary
TUI command, navigation, and read handling
cli/internal/command/*, cli/internal/tui/*, cli/go.mod
Registers the interactive TUI command and adds model-driven navigation, paged reads, detail views, manual CLI handoffs, response validation, and terminal-text cleaning. Unit tests cover navigation, failures, output, and rendering.
Contributor scope and user-facing behavior
.commitrail/*, cli/README.md, docs/design/cli-terminal-experience.md, docs/roadmap_status.md
Documents the read-only workbench and its boundaries. Findings and evidence remain CLI handoffs; writes, management, broader TUI work, and publication remain separate.
Native terminal and API integration tests
cli/tests/integration/http2_fixture.py, cli/tests/integration/requirements-native.txt, cli/tests/integration/test_tui_http.py, cli/tests/integration/test_tui_public_api.py, cli/tests/integration/tui_terminal_support.py
Adds PTY/ConPTY test support and exercises TUI navigation against a constrained HTTP peer and the real API. Tests cover read-only traffic, authorization changes, stale responses, terminal cleanup, and output handling.
Native proof and CI enforcement
cli/tests/integration/tui_native_proof.py, cli/tests/integration/test_tui_native_proof.py, .github/workflows/cli*.yml, docs/engineering/cli-release.md, scripts/test_lightweight_agent_gates.py
Adds source-, target-, and run-bound proof receipts and validates complete test execution. CI separates HTTP and API test groups and verifies evidence for four release targets.

Merge Risk: Low · up to a9178

This adds an opt-in, read-only terminal workbench and native test proof without changing backend behavior. The one remaining finding is minor: when the native proof rejects a run, CI shows only the error type and not the reason. Merge once the pending fresh CI runs pass.

Verification update: f35c6bd passed the real signed public-API/PostgreSQL contributor read and fresh-revocation journey (1 test; database/role cleanup verified). Native receipts independently validate Linux 30 tests and Windows 29 tests on merge 2b3d639 (parents main 733c752 + f35c6bd). Both macOS lanes failed exact terminal restoration; this remains blocking. Current head bc63320 adds reviewed diagnostic-only exit-status/numeric-termios reporting without changing assertions, retries, or product behavior, so native reruns can identify the discrepancy. The existing CLI socket group also timed out at its 300-second bound; a coverage-preserving partition is being reviewed. Draft retained; not merge-ready.

All four native terminal receipts and release-asset assembly passed on e71b786: Linux/macOS Intel/macOS ARM each 31 tests, Windows 29, zero omissions/skips/deselections. macOS exact restoration and deliberate raw-mode rejection both pass. The CLI broad group still hit 300s at the same pre-TUI guide deadline boundary. Reviewed head 1eb0895 now moves the whole unchanged 25-case task-guide module to the existing guide group: broad251, guide200; six groups, exact union, unchanged300s/15m limits. Full29 workflow-contract tests and mutation proof pass; new hosted run required. Earlier single local startup exit remains documented as unreproduced/unknown cause, not claimed fixed. Draft retained.

Current head 1eb0895: complete CLI contract job 120605686944 passed in 12m42s under the unchanged 15-minute budget. Groups: broad HTTP 251, terminal/proof 63, guide HTTP 200, native public API 24 (including the signed Flow/FastAPI/PostgreSQL TUI journey), self-service 1, batch 3. Owned database/provider cleanup succeeded. Native four-platform run 40008962049 also passed. Full Backend run 40008961971 remains in progress; this is not yet full-CI readiness. Earlier timeout failures and the unexplained local early-exit uncertainty remain recorded, not waived.

Marked ready for review at unchanged head 1eb0895 after independent final CI accounting: full Backend run 40008961971 succeeded, 17 lanes with 10,864 unique collected/completed tests, zero skips/deselections/interruption, exact merge tree equal to reviewed head, and cleanup/evidence validation passed. Four-native proof run 40008962049 passed. Required ready-transition Backend run 40014721395 is now queued; I am monitoring it and external review. Pushed reviewed repair a9178a0. The unchanged-source ready-state run hit the 15-minute cumulative CLI job limit during batch after all earlier groups passed; it is not a pass. The repair uses one fixed http/api matrix with fail-fast disabled: existing six groups run exactly once, same 300-second isolated limits and 15-minute limit per job, identical fresh source/build/PostgreSQL/MinIO custody and cleanup. No test assertions, retries or backend fan-in guards changed. Thirty local gates passed; six partition-bypass mutations were rejected; grouped CI/test-delta/reuse review passed exact clean head. Fresh Backend40018673477 and native40018673168 must now pass. Superseded failed run40014721395 is being cancelled to release capacity, with its failure logs retained. Not ready to merge yet.

Include the ProofError reason in the rejection message.

Every ProofError is raised with a specific reason, for example "unsuccessful or xfail phase" or "report for uncollected test". Line 205 prints only the exception class name, so a failing CI job shows ProofError and nothing else. The reports.json upload step is skipped when this step fails. A maintainer therefore cannot tell which check rejected the proof without re-running the job locally.

The reasons are fixed strings and contain no secrets. Print the message for ProofError only.

Addressed CodeRabbit nitpick 7d35d686261a9cf36fa23e92 in 19023fb: native proof rejection now includes only the fixed ProofError reason. Other exception types still conceal message/path/payload. Added three main-path regressions for actionable proof diagnostics and secret-bearing OSError/ValueError; all35 verifier tests passed, Ruff passed, and focused independent CI/security/test-delta review passed exact clean head. No validation, exit, selection or receipt semantics changed. Prior a917 matrix proof passed http9m41/api4m13 and all4native targets; the final head now runs Backend40020667809/native40020667752/AgentGates40020667842. Reconciled current main 2e6cee0 at bb8b145. Preserved merged system-reader catalogue, release guard and MCP changes alongside the read-only contributor TUI. Resolved roadmap conflict and restored the TUI next boundary in INDEX. TUI runtime and CI workflow bodies unchanged by this reconciliation. Local Go tests/vet, Markdown links and Commitrail checks pass; stale-wording scan, independent reconciliation review and fresh hosted CI remain pending. Earlier-head readiness is not evidence for this new head. Not merged or published.
