fix(player): keep captions synchronized after first play - #29
Cap can freeze the first subtitle after playback starts and keep it visible after the video ends. The first play changes hasPlayedOnce, which reinstalls the player effect and removes its caption listener. Already-loaded tracks do not emit another metadata event to reconnect it.
Reconnect the existing caption track whenever the effect installs and synchronize its current cue immediately. Track changes detach the old listener before selecting the next track, and repeated setup keeps one listener. The stored transcript, cue timestamps, language settings and inference routes are unchanged.
Validation:
Reproduced in the deployed player using one synthetic recording. At the 5.619-second end the first caption remained visible even though its stored cue ended at 2.560 seconds and the second cue ended at 4.880 seconds.
Scoped Biome and diff checks passed. The change touches only CapVideoPlayer.tsx.
CI typecheck, production image build and current-head CodeRabbit review are pending. No new repository tests were added.
The rollout remains held for a matching image pin and parent countersign. Actual playback, seeking, replay and captions off/on will be repeated against that image before UI verification is declared complete.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Caption and subtitle tracks now update more reliably when video playback begins or tracks change.
The caption track setup now removes the previous cue listener, configures the selected captions or subtitles track, and refreshes the current cue. The effect also runs track setup during initialization.
Changes: Caption Track Setup
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Initialize and update caption track apps/web/app/s/[videoId]/_components/CapVideoPlayer.tsx
setupTracks removes the prior cue listener, selects the first captions or subtitles track, sets its mode to hidden when needed, and refreshes the current cue. The effect calls setupTracks during initialization.
Captions may remain visible after playback ends; clear them at the ended boundary before merging.

Clear captions when playback ends.
A cue can extend beyond the video duration. For example, a cue from 4 to 6 seconds remains active when a 5-second video ends, so no cuechange clears it. (html.spec.whatwg.org)
Clear currentCue on ended and prevent synchronization from restoring it while video.ended is true. Preserve cue updates when the user seeks or replays.

Update the CapVideoPlayer cue handling so playback ending clears currentCue and
caption synchronization does not restore active cue text while the video is
ended. Preserve cue updates after seeking or replaying by resuming
synchronization once playback is no longer ended.
