fix(mosaic): put contact verify, MFA and account actions under one section lock - #10520
Brings the remaining Mosaic user-profile actions onto the section lock from #10481.
Email and phone verify. Sending a verification code now holds the section. Set as primary, Remove and Add are disabled until the code is sent, and the Verify item keeps its spinner. The add controllers' onVerifyEmail and onVerifyPhone now return a promise that settles once the machine leaves preparing, built on a new waitFor(actor, predicate) helper in src/machine.
MFA. Regenerating backup codes, changing the default SMS method and removing a method now share one lock owned by the MFA controller. While any of them runs, the method menus and Add are disabled. Supersedes fix(mosaic): coordinate pending MFA actions #10482.
Connected accounts. Providers carry their own isPending, the section returns isDisabled, and removal goes through guard. Account menus are disabled while a connection starts, so removal can no longer begin mid-connect.
Enterprise accounts. Replaces the hand-rolled lock with usePendingAction. Connections carry isPending and connectError, so the view no longer compares pendingId. A connect error now clears when any connection starts, matching connected accounts.
Follow-up to CORE-4051. Partially addresses CORE-4084 by coordinating connected-account menus and the section lock; existing-account reconnect progress and failed-account transition/reverification coverage remain tracked there.
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
The change adds waitFor to await matching machine snapshots. Email and phone verification use it to keep pending actions active until their actors leave preparing. Connected-account, enterprise-account, and MFA controllers and views also apply pending-action state to related controls. Tests cover updated disabled states and action completion.
clerk/javascript#10481 — Introduces the shared pending-action lock and guard behavior that this change applies to additional profile actions.
clerk/javascript#10406 — Changes email and phone verification callbacks to return promises, which this change awaits with waitFor.
clerk/javascript#10436 — Adds pending behavior for backup-code regeneration menus, which this change coordinates with the wider MFA section lock.

Treat this as a generic lifecycle edge, not a section-lock failure.
A direct caller that waits while the predicate is false, then stops and restarts the same actor, can leave waitFor pending because stop() clears its listener. The email and phone controllers do not expose or restart their actors. useMachine stops them only when the owning controller unmounts, and a later mount creates a new actor and section lock.
If waitFor must support actor pause/resume, preserve the wait across restart or define explicit cancellation handling. Rejecting it as an ordinary action error is not safe. This is a broader, low-frequency lifecycle refactor, not a low-effort fix for the email or phone section.

Apply the section lock to the custom Add control.
useUserProfileMfaExample supplies UserProfileAddMfaDialog without disabled. The fallback picker is the only control that receives controller.isDisabled, so the custom dialog can remain enabled while removal or set-default is pending. Pass the same lock state to the custom control, or use the fallback picker.

Tested on 77046e87, untouched since — Same as the last head. Before, Add and the other emails' menus stayed live while the code sent, so Set as primary and Remove could still start. After, they are disabled until the code is sent, and Verify keeps its spinner.

usePendingAction gains guard(), which runs a confirmation's confirm under
the section lock, replacing runExternal and the wrapper each section
copied. Section controllers put verify and primary pending flags on the
rows they return, so views no longer compare pending keys. Confirmation
drops the disabled prop, which no reachable state could set.
Set as primary stayed pending while the session verification dialog was
open, so its menu stayed open with a spinner behind the dialog. The
pending status now ends when the dialog appears, as ActionMenu expects.
Email, phone and web3 wallet rows list the primary first when the
section loads, then keep their positions when a new primary is set, so
only the Primary badge moves. The new primary leads on the next load.

packages/mosaic/src/features/user-profile/user-profile-email-section/user-profile-add-email.controller.ts:270-274 Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Keep the section lock through link and SSO verification.
current.value !== 'preparing' releases the lock for the waiting and connecting states. Link verification is still awaiting verification.verified, and SSO has not started its asynchronous connection yet. Resolve at the existing code-verification step or at idle, which preserves the code-flow boundary while keeping non-code verification locked.
Suggested fix
- await waitFor(actor, current => current.value !== 'preparing');+ await waitFor(actor, current => current.value === 'verify' || current.value === 'idle');

Sending a verification code for an email or phone now holds the section,
so set-primary, Remove and Add wait until the code is sent. Changing the
default SMS method, regenerating backup codes and removing an MFA method
now exclude each other, and the method menus and Add are disabled while
one runs.
Adds waitFor to the machine runtime so a pending action can wait for a
machine-driven step.
Connected accounts now disables account menus while a connection starts,
so removal can no longer begin mid-connect, and removal shares the
section lock. Enterprise accounts moves onto the shared pending action,
so a connect error clears when any connection starts.
