What and why

Closes #5. Besides XP, the weekend event can now boost profession skill-ups, weapon and Defense skill-ups, reputation and money. XPWeekend.xpAmount is the rate for all of them and each bonus has its own 0/1 switch, so a server can run a gold-only or profession-only weekend. Nothing in the core changes.

Decisions worth knowing

  • One rate for everything plus XPEnabled, ProfessionEnabled, WeaponSkillEnabled, ReputationEnabled and MoneyEnabled. Only XPEnabled is on by default, so a server updating the module keeps its current behaviour until it turns the new bonuses on.
  • Money means looted gold (OnPlayerBeforeLootMoney, before the group split) and quest reward money only. The only general money hook has no source info, and multiplying every gain would let players duplicate gold through trade, mail or the auction house.
  • Quest money has no hook, so OnPlayerQuestComputeXP notes the max-level money in CustomData and OnPlayerCompleteQuest pays the extra as a separate ModifyMoney, repeating the checks Player::RewardQuest does (play time, money a quest takes, achievement credit).
  • Fishing, weapon skills and Defense have no gain hook either, so OnPlayerUpdateSkill adds the extra points with SetSkill after a successful skill-up, capped at the skill max. Skill points are whole numbers, so a decimal rate rounds down (a 1 point gain at 1.5 stays 1).
  • Reputation losses are never multiplied, which also stops Joyous Journeys from scaling them. The options the new hooks read are cached in LoadConfig(), which runs on startup and .reload config.

Review guide

  • src/mod-double-xp-weekend.cpp is where judgment matters: the quest money pair (OnPlayerQuestComputeXP / OnPlayerCompleteQuest) has to match Player::RewardQuest exactly, and OnPlayerUpdateSkill changes a skill from inside a skill-up hook. IsEventActive() now uses Acore::Time::TimeBreakdown() instead of localtime(), since the hooks run on map threads.
  • conf/mod-double-xp-weekend.conf.dist, README.md and the id 2 string in data/sql/db-world/mod-weekend-xp-texts.sql (default plus 8 locales, now listing the five switches in .weekendxp config) are mechanical.

Known gaps

  • The quest window and the quest complete message still show the base money, and the loot window shows the base gold before looting, because those values come from core packets. The player still gets the multiplied amount, and the "You loot" message shows it.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Weekend events can now boost profession and weapon skill-ups, reputation, and money from looted gold and quest rewards, alongside XP.
    • Configure each bonus independently and set a shared multiplier for eligible gains. XP bonuses can also be switched off separately.
    • Configuration messages and login announcements now reflect whether XP bonuses are enabled.

Closes azerothcore#5. Server owners can now pick which bonuses run during the
weekend event, each with its own on/off option, and XPWeekend.xpAmount
sets the rate for all of them. Only looted gold and quest reward money
are multiplied, so trade, mail and auction house money can't be used to
duplicate gold.

Weekend events can now apply independently enabled bonuses to XP, skills, reputation, loot money, and eligible quest money. Configuration, command text, player hooks, and cached settings support these bonuses.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Configure and report bonus settings
README.md, conf/mod-double-xp-weekend.conf.dist, data/sql/db-world/mod-weekend-xp-texts.sql, src/mod-double-xp-weekend.cpp
The configuration and README describe the shared rate and individual bonus toggles. Configuration messages now include the five bonus settings. Runtime configuration caches and reports these settings.
Apply weekend bonuses
src/mod-double-xp-weekend.cpp
Handlers apply bonuses to eligible skill, reputation, and loot-money gains. Quest money is recorded before completion and an eligible bonus is paid at completion. XP bonuses now require XPEnabled.
Wire player hooks and configuration reload
src/mod-double-xp-weekend.cpp
Player hooks forward skill, reputation, loot, and quest events. A world hook reloads cached settings after configuration loads. Joyous Journeys checks use cached values.

Fractional bonus settings can take money from players. Prevent that behavior before merging, or explicitly accept and document reducing rates.

Self-review — featNewRates → master

Outcome 8 findings — 7 fixed, 1 dismissed — final round clean

Reviewed 429d14a (featNewRates vs upstream/master of azerothcore/mod-weekend-xp, merge-base diff — 4 files, +384 −49)

By Claude Code, Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) — self-review v0.14, 2026-10-09

Tested in game by the author: all bonuses and options, per the author ("testei tudo em jogo")

Review details (2 rounds in this run; rounds 1–3 in SELF-REVIEW.md)

Intent Add weekend-event bonuses to mod-weekend-xp for profession and weapon/Defense skill-ups,
reputation, and money (looted gold and quest reward money only), each with its own 0/1 switch (XP
included), all using XPWeekend.xpAmount as the single bonus rate; the AzerothCore core is not
changed.

Carried forward from SELF-REVIEW.md: findings 1–7 fixed (5 partly dismissed: long SQL id-2 rows
and C++/conf lines over the module's 80-col .editorconfig).

Round 4 — 29efbb5, round 3 fix, 1 finding

  1. src/mod-double-xp-weekend.cpp:424 — reopened: reworded LoadConfig() NOTE still misplaces live readers ("below", while ConfigMaxAllowedRate / ConfigJoyousJourneysXPRate sit above) and calls ConfigEnabled / ConfigAlwaysEnabled live though they now return cached values → fixed: comment reduced to "options read here are cached until the next config load or reload"

Round 5 — 429d14a, round 4 fix, clean

Comment thread src/mod-double-xp-weekend.cpp
With XPWeekend.xpAmount below 1 the quest money bonus took gold back
after the reward, and a player at the gold cap ended with less gold
than before. Skills, reputation and money now only ever add, and a rate
below 1 still lowers XP as before.

A server updating the module should keep its current behaviour, so the
profession, weapon skill, reputation and money bonuses now start off in
both the conf and the code. XPEnabled stays on. Also names the faction
ids skipped by ExcludeInsaneReps in an enum.

Keep both sides: the cached options and extra bonuses from azerothcore#47, and the
configurable window and start/end messages from this branch.

- LoadConfig() reads both sets of options.
- IsEventActive() tests the hour-of-week mask; the WD_* day values are
  no longer used.
- One DoubleXpWeekendWorldScript with both hooks.
- conf.dist: the two sentences that said the bonuses run from Friday to
Sunday now point to the XPWeekend.Days window.
