feat: Add XP window and announce options - #48
Conversation
Replace the hard-coded Friday/Saturday/Sunday check with three options: - XPWeekend.Days: comma-separated days the bonus starts on (0 = Sunday ... 6 = Saturday), default "5,6,0". - XPWeekend.StartHour: hour the bonus starts, 0-23, default 0. - XPWeekend.EndHour: hour the bonus ends (exclusive), 0-23, default 0. Lower than StartHour crosses midnight; equal means a 24-hour window. Days and hours use the server clock (the in-game realm time). The window is parsed once per config load (startup and `.reload config`) into a cached hour-of-week mask. Invalid day entries are logged and ignored; out-of-range hours are logged and reset to 0. The defaults keep the old behaviour. Also announce the event: - XPWeekend.StartMessage: sent to all online players when the bonus starts, and to players who log in while it is active (not on login while AlwaysEnabled = 1). - XPWeekend.EndMessage: sent to all online players when the bonus ends. An empty text turns a message off. The state is checked once per second and a message is sent only when it changes, so a window spanning several days announces one start and one end. Both messages are on by default and do not depend on XPWeekend.Announce. Closes azerothcore#32 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Add XPWeekend.AnnounceStartEnd (off by default) to turn the start and end broadcasts and the login start message on or off, as asked in the review. With the default, servers that update get no new messages. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Keep both sides: the cached options and extra bonuses from azerothcore#47, and the configurable window and start/end messages from this branch. - LoadConfig() reads both sets of options. - IsEventActive() tests the hour-of-week mask; the WD_* day values are no longer used. - One DoubleXpWeekendWorldScript with both hooks. - conf.dist: the two sentences that said the bonuses run from Friday to Sunday now point to the XPWeekend.Days window. heads up, the build failure here comes from the core. The module compiles and the worldserver dry run starts, then the job stops at "Check startup errors" because of this line in That |
With XPWeekend.Announce and XPWeekend.AnnounceStartEnd both on, players got two messages at login, one of them saying "It's the weekend!" on any configured day. AnnounceStartEnd now replaces the Announce login text. Also read the hour mask with operator[] in IsEventActive(). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
What and why
Closes #32. The bonus was hard-coded to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admins can now pick the days and the daily start and end hour with
XPWeekend.Days,XPWeekend.StartHourandXPWeekend.EndHour, and the defaults keep the old behaviour. WithXPWeekend.AnnounceStartEnd = 1(off by default), players are also told when the bonus starts and ends, with texts set inXPWeekend.StartMessageandXPWeekend.EndMessage. Nothing in the core changes.Decisions worth knowing
EndHourlower thanStartHourcrosses midnight, and an equal one means 24 hours, which is how0and0cover the whole day.LoadConfig()parses the three options once per config load (startup and.reload config) into an hour-of-week mask, becauseIsEventActive()runs on every XP gain. The older options still use their per-call getters.Daysmeans the window never opens.OnWorldUpdate()checks the state once a second and, withXPWeekend.AnnounceStartEnd = 1, broadcasts when it changes. Windows that touch each other give one start and one end, a server that starts inside a window stays quiet, and switchingEnabledorAlwaysEnabledwith.reload configcounts as a start or an end. The start text is also sent at login, even withXPWeekend.Announce = 0, except whileAlwaysEnabled = 1. The switch is off by default, so a server that updates gets no new messages.Review guide
src/mod-double-xp-weekend.cppis the part worth a close look: the mask arithmetic inLoadConfig(), with the modulo that wraps Saturday night into Sunday, and the state changes inOnWorldUpdate().SendWorldText("{}", message)needs the"{}"because that overload is the one that loops over every session, and it keeps the admin's text out of the format string.IsEventActive()now usesAcore::Time::TimeBreakdown()instead oflocaltime().conf/mod-double-xp-weekend.conf.distandREADME.mdare mechanical.IsEventActive()and adds aDoubleXpWeekendWorldScriptwithOnAfterConfigLoad. The two PRs are independent, so whichever merges second has to merge those by hand.Known gaps
XPWeekend.Dayslists them..weekendxp configdoesn't list the new options..reload config. Not tested in game: a window that crosses midnight, the 24 hour window, an empty message, invalid entries, a.confwithout the new options, andAlwaysEnabledorEnabledoverriding the window. These tests were done before theXPWeekend.AnnounceStartEndswitch was added.Summary by CodeRabbit
