feat(cli): deliberate TUI claim/start and direct navigation - #695
Fresh Ready/Mine Overview exposes a actions for Claim/Start. Caller-saved UUID, exact actor/project/task/key review, s acknowledgment and y confirmation send one POST.
Separate write outcome state binds receipts and preserves uncertainty, exact replay and prior success independently of later read failures. Pending writes consume navigation; quit never claims rollback.
1/2/3 select collections, Shift+Tab reverses navigation. Bounded bracketed paste accepts UUID input but never interprets pasted confirmation keys.
Current CLI/design/roadmap/initiative entries describe this boundary and its remaining work.
Design Chosen And Alternatives Rejected
Reuse the typed client and existing terminal model. No new API, backend state, dependency, generic journal, transient generated recovery keys, automatic retries or claim-to-start chain. Optional reason is consistently omitted.
Scope Control
Changed TUI/wiring, focused Go and native HTTP/public-API tests, an opt-in POST observation hook in the existing terminal fixture, and affected docs/records. No workflow, backend, API transport or dependency changes.
Product Behavior
TUI adds deliberate Claim/Start using unchanged public lifecycle authority. Displayed status is not authority. Preparation, immutable submission, review, acceptance and fulfillment remain distinct and are not added here.
Evidence
At exact head 0400218616c3f40567af8b8b86ea3bdba3553a5e:
go build, go test ./..., go vet ./... and go test -race ./... passed.
Native HTTP/terminal suite: 104 passed, zero skips; signed public-API/native PostgreSQL drill: 2 passed, zero skips, isolated database cleanup verified.
Four-platform native/release proof passed: Linux x86-64, macOS Intel/Apple Silicon and Windows x86-64. Canonical receipts verified 69/69/69/67 selected tests respectively, without skipped or deselected tests. Test-merge 82acf227 has the expected base/head parents and the same tree as this head.
Actual Backend synchronize run passed: both hosted CLI contract jobs, all 17 lanes, full-suite completeness and draft-test. Independent artifact inspection verified 11,416 canonical collected/completed tests. Backend wall time was 28m16s; the diagnostic eight-minute target remains unmet. Metadata-only skipped runs are not used as proof. Moving ready triggers the separate required non-draft test check; that result remains a merge gate.
Test Delta
Adds explicit confirmation/no duplicate dispatch, exact wire/body/key, response substitution, unknown/denied replay, retained receipt/cleared content, direct navigation and safe paste regressions. Separate native signed API drill proves claim/start replay and live revocation; prior GET-only proof stays intact. No tests removed or skipped.
Impact-Routed Reviewer Results
Plan review passed. Independent review found a late-read401/replay-confirmation dispatch gap (SEC-01, ARCH-695-01, QA-695-01/TD-695-01), a same-collection shortcut no-op (PRODUCT-OPS-01/QA-695-02), and a stale roadmap executive sentence (DOCS-01). All were repaired in 040021861; the session-race regression first failed against the old behavior by observing a second POST, then passed after repair. Same-collection regressions also failed on the old implementation.
Exact-head advisory results, summarizing private reviewer sessions: security PASS; architecture PASS AFTER FIXES; reuse/dedup PASS; QA PASS; test-delta PASS; product-ops PASS; docs PASS; CI-integrity PASS for this candidate and its completed draft proof. Reviews do not authorize merge or replace the required non-draft test check.
External Review
CodeRabbit: not fresh (skipped, not substantive reviewer approval). Human approval remains required.
CI And Gate Integrity
No workflows, gates, scripts or dependencies changed. Shared native fixture adds opt-in POST capture; old GET-only responders remain strict. Cross-platform selection receipts passed canonical verification; removing a selected test or marking it skipped caused verification to fail. An obsolete prior-head run was cancelled to release concurrency; the current required run remains intact.
Main advanced to ac637495 (#692 hosted Smol) during verification. Read-only merge-tree reconciliation is conflict-free; the shared roadmap retains the hosted changes and this PR's CLI claims, and no affected CLI owner changed. The ready-for-review workflow will test the new combined tree.
Remaining Risks / Follow-Up Work
Caller must save the UUID and action/task outside this session. There is no automatic crash-safe journal. Claim replay after Start may validly conflict. ZIP preparation/submission, revision/evidence work and management remain separate TUI boundaries. This is not a beta-complete end-to-end journey or deployment claim.
Human Review Focus
Try Ready → inspect → Claim, then separately Mine → inspect → Start. Check whether exact confirmation, caller-owned recovery and direct navigation are understandable. Inspect unknown outcomes and authority loss, not only success.
Human Merge Ownership
Human accepts scope and remaining risks.
Eligible independent human approves the latest reviewed push.
User explicitly approves this specific PR for merge.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added an opt-in contributor workbench for browsing task collections and deliberately claiming or starting eligible tasks.
Actions require a saved replay key and explicit confirmation. The workbench distinguishes confirmed results from uncertain outcomes and supports deliberate replay without automatic retries.
Added guidance for recovering from failed reads and authorization denials.
Documentation
Clarified the workbench’s scope and boundaries. ZIP preparation, submission, management, and automatic recovery remain outside it.
The contributor TUI now supports explicitly confirmed Claim and Start actions through existing API operations. It uses caller-owned UUID replay keys, adds direct collection navigation, and distinguishes confirmed writes from uncertain outcomes.

The TUI offers Claim for eligible Ready tasks and Start for eligible claimed Mine tasks. Each action requires a caller-owned UUID, acknowledgment, and explicit confirmation. The flow validates receipts, supports explicit same-key replay, and preserves uncertain outcomes.
The TUI adds direct collection selection and Shift+Tab navigation. Write modes display action, confirmation, pending, and outcome guidance.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 04002
The new Claim/Start flow looks sound, but the action footer mislabels Shift+Tab and hides some active keys, and one initiative record still describes the TUI as having no product writes. Both are small fixes and can be made before or shortly after merge.

Update the Optional TUI boundary so it does not contradict -51.
Item 26 still says "In-TUI Evidence, product writes and management remain separate boundaries." -51 now adds Claim and Start, which are product writes. The changed text at Line 69-72 and the new "Connected contributor workbench" section say this correctly. Item 26 therefore contradicts them. The Design paragraph at Line 361-364 also still limits the TUI to -48/-49 reads. This file is the durable initiative record, so the stale text gives readers the wrong TUI scope.
📝 Proposed wording

Update item 26 and the Design paragraph in the Optional TUI section to reflect

management described as separate boundaries, consistent with the Connected
contributor workbench section.
The standard-library strings.Title API is deprecated, so staticcheck reports SA1019 for both calls when enabled. p.action is limited to claim and start, so local ASCII capitalization is sufficient.

Replace the deprecated strings.Title call in the action display with ASCII
capitalization for p.action, which is limited to “claim” and “start”; update the
other strings.Title call in the same action-rendering flow as well.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Fix the action footer. "Shift+Tab back" does not match how the key works.
This footer appears only when canOpenAction() is true. That happens on Ready task detail or Mine Overview.
On Ready detail, key() ignores shift+tab. The list branch requires !m.detail, and the detail branches handle only mine and submissions. Pressing it does nothing.
On Mine Overview, shift+tab moves to the previous section (Guide). It does not go back. Esc goes back.
This footer also replaces the ordinary detail footer. As a result, it hides Tab section on Mine and c CLI, g projects and ? help everywhere. Show Shift+Tab only on Mine, label it as section navigation, and keep the hidden keys.

Change
WS-CLI-001-51 — Deliberate contributor TUI Claim/Start and direct navigation.
Goal
Make the merged reading workbench useful for the first real contributor actions without pretending the full submission journey is implemented.
Intent And Planning Context
Bounded change, decisions, acceptance and review scope. The contributor found missing actions and hidden navigation made the TUI feel temporary. Existing public claim/start clients and backend guards are reused.
What Changed
a actionsfor Claim/Start. Caller-saved UUID, exact actor/project/task/key review, sacknowledgment andyconfirmation send one POST.1/2/3select collections, Shift+Tab reverses navigation. Bounded bracketed paste accepts UUID input but never interprets pasted confirmation keys.Design Chosen And Alternatives Rejected
Evidence

CodeRabbit: not fresh (skipped, not substantive reviewer approval). Human approval remains required.
CI And Gate Integrity
No workflows, gates, scripts or dependencies changed. Shared native fixture adds opt-in POST capture; old GET-only responders remain strict. Cross-platform selection receipts passed canonical verification; removing a selected test or marking it skipped caused verification to fail. An obsolete prior-head run was cancelled to release concurrency; the current required run remains intact.
Main advanced to
ac637495(#692 hosted Smol) during verification. Read-only merge-tree reconciliation is conflict-free; the shared roadmap retains the hosted changes and this PR's CLI claims, and no affected CLI owner changed. The ready-for-review workflow will test the new combined tree.Remaining Risks / Follow-Up Work
Caller must save the UUID and action/task outside this session.
