Select POST model provider from the locked project profile - #690
Model-backed POST checks previously accepted only OpenAI profiles, and hosted composition required both provider credentials. This change selects OpenAI Responses or OpenRouter Chat Completions from the locked project profile and mounts only configured credentials in the model proxy. Ordinary POST checks remain model-independent.
The adapter uses the existing shared budget, AUTH and ART owners. A known result is retained and settled once; ambiguous outcomes keep their reservation and cannot silently dispatch again. There is no provider fallback, new budget owner, schema migration, dependency or CI lane. The superseded setup-only helper is removed and its consumers use shared provider primitives.
Plan and scope: .commitrail/changes/post-model-provider-selection.md.
Two real PostgreSQL/LocalArtifactStore tests prove retained-output replay and uncertain-effect hold without redispatch. This earlier local evidence is tied to cf1b2a3c; the final hosted suite independently verifies the merged tree.
Mutation probes detect missing response index, invalid empty-tool rejection, nullable terminal-output rejection and removed context ceiling. Integration probes reject extra provider construction, removed intake construction and changed test-family membership.
Required original internal reviews passed; affected merge-integration architecture, security, test-delta, CI-integrity and documentation reviews passed on f3f818265.
Full hosted evidence: Backend run 40332832861 passed. Independently validated 11,294 collected and uniquely completed tests across all 17 lanes, zero skips/deselections, all database/MinIO cleanup complete. Tested merge 41280c5f has the identical tree 6e5f860197536a890a79a00ec1eea24beadce25a as PR head f3f818265. The repository evidence validator exited 0..
CodeRabbit's prompt-count concern was dispositioned: qualification requires the advertised provider context to fit the reserved input cap; it is not exact local prompt tokenization. The misleading unused comparison and conflated test were corrected. Over-context requests can still reach the provider and enter an uncertain hold; no universally-free-failure claim is made.
No live paid-provider or full hosted project journey is claimed. OpenRouter completion text cannot be recovered from a response ID alone. #677's project execution qualification and the intended hosted drill remain separate. Human approval is required before merge.
CodeRabbit substantively reviewed an earlier head; its thread is resolved. Its green status is not presented as a new substantive review of this final merge. All required checks have passed; eligible human approval remains required.
Final base check: main subsequently advanced to d4403226d through CLI/TUI PR #691 while this CI ran. Its changes are confined to CLI code and documentation; there is no backend/provider implementation overlap. git merge-tree succeeds and preserves the separate roadmap updates; GitHub reports MERGEABLE/CLEAN. That later CLI revision is not claimed as part of this PR's tested tree.
POST checker model calls now select OpenAI Responses or OpenRouter Chat Completions from the locked project profile. Shared utilities validate OpenRouter profiles and responses. Hosted release configuration loads only configured provider credentials.

Summary
Model contracts and shared OpenRouter utilities backend/app/interfaces/checker_model_provider.py, backend/app/adapters/model_usage/openrouter.py
Provider model identifiers now permit slash-qualified names. Shared OpenRouter utilities validate model metadata, pricing, usage, request options, and response sizes.
The factory selects OpenAI Responses or OpenRouter from the profile and receives the matching credential. Unsupported provider/API pairs fail before credential access.
The adapter preflights metadata, sends one bounded completion request, validates the response, and does not retry uncertain calls. Tests cover request, response, usage, finish-status, and recovery cases.
Composed execution and runtime documentation backend/tests/checkers_model_calls/test_composed_execution.py, README.md, docs/operations_checker_models.md, docs/roadmap_status.md, .commitrail/changes/post-model-provider-selection.md
Composed-execution tests check completed and ambiguous OpenRouter calls, artifact bindings, and reserved budget state. Documentation describes profile selection and recovery behavior.
Setup and guide adapters now use shared OpenRouter utilities instead of local policy and parsing code. Ownership declarations and tests record the module transition.
Provider-specific Compose overlays mount configured credentials. Preflight and the release entrypoint enforce credential requirements for the selected runtime and configured provider paths.
Flow-Research/workstream issue 576: Executes the selected immutable profile, but does not provide the required PM agreement.
Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 7b12c
Over-limit OpenRouter calls can incur charges and leave reservations held. Enforce the per-call input limit before dispatching paid requests.

Explanation
The description is substantially complete. It explains the goal, design, scope, product behavior, evidence, test results, risks, external review status, CI status, and required human approval. It does not use every template heading or explicitly list test additions, removals, reviewer tables, and follow-up work, but the missing structure does not prevent review.
