The fast test suite takes nearly three minutes and nothing tracks the slowest tests #1256

Closed

Description

@yakew7

Where: pyproject.toml, Makefile (test-fast).

Current gap: make test-fast ran 1,418 tests in 172 s on a laptop, and which tests dominate is not recorded anywhere, so the slow marker is applied by guess.

Repro:

python3 -m pytest tests -q -m 'not slow' --ignore=tests/browser --durations=10

Suggested approach: Run pytest --durations=25 once, move the tests over a few seconds under the slow marker (or speed up their fixtures), and add --durations=10 to make test-fast.

Done when: make test-fast finishes in under a minute without dropping a test from CI's full run.
