Record post-audit directory-target and source-identity protocol decisions

Goal

Extend LPP decision history to cover the material wire-boundary decisions introduced after the 2026-09-12 ADR audit: directory project targets and owner-selected source identity.

Context

The current ADR registry audit is explicitly bounded to repository history through 2026-09-09 and records only the earlier provider-owned file-entry project-loading decision.

Subsequent accepted protocol changes materially extended that contract:

• PR feat(protocol): support directory project targets #32 added language-neutral file-or-directory project targets while preserving provider ownership of effective entry and source-closure discovery;
• PR feat(protocol): return owner-selected source identity #34 added optional owner-selected sourceIdentity so clients can preserve source identity for provider-owned project targets without selecting or reading the source entry themselves.

The normative protocol specification and conformance fixtures define the current wire behavior, but future maintainers should not have to reconstruct the rationale for these responsibility and identity choices from the schema or implementation alone.

Scope

• Classify the decisions introduced by feat(protocol): support directory project targets #32 and feat(protocol): return owner-selected source identity #34 against the existing ADR-0001 project-loading decision.
• Add the smallest new ADR history needed to preserve the rationale, alternatives, ownership boundaries, compatibility consequences, and relationship to ADR-0001.
• Preserve the distinction between normative current wire contract in spec/ and historical rationale in docs/adr/.
• Keep directory/project discovery semantics owned by source-language implementations; LPP only transports the selected filesystem target and owner-produced identity.
• Update ADR registry/index links needed to make the newer decision history discoverable.

Non-goals

• Rewriting ADR-0001 as though directory targets or source identity were part of the original decision.
• Changing LPP 1.2/1.3 wire behavior, capability negotiation, conformance fixtures, or versioning.
• Moving project discovery, source-language semantics, provider distribution, or Wright product policy into LPP.
• Creating one ADR per protocol field or release.
• Recording current release/version status as ADR state.

Acceptance criteria

• The ADR registry no longer stops at the pre-1.2 project-loading rationale for material accepted wire-boundary decisions.
• The directory-target responsibility choice has recoverable rationale and explicitly preserves provider/source-owner project discovery.
• The source-identity choice has recoverable rationale and explains why identity is returned by the owner instead of reconstructed by the client.
• Historical relationships to ADR-0001, feat(protocol): support directory project targets #32, and feat(protocol): return owner-selected source identity #34 are explicit without rewriting earlier history.
• The normative protocol specification remains the authority for current wire semantics; ADRs remain decision history only.

Ownership

language-provider-protocol owns the process/wire decisions. Source-language project discovery remains in the owning implementation; Wright owns product-level target selection and orchestration.
