feat(transcription): route Nova-3 through the LiteLLM media gateway - #28
Cap's existing Deepgram Nova-3 transcription now goes through the dedicated LiteLLM media route. The model, language options, raw utterances, word timestamps and caption formatter stay the same.
The application validates the fixed public/internal gateway destination, uses a dedicated virtual key, forwards the optional Cloudflare credential pair, and has no direct Deepgram fallback. Helm removes the provider key from the web pod; both supported Compose services forward the new gateway settings. The SDK receives the origin and path separately so its URL-template handling preserves the internal :4000 port. The workflow import uses the app alias so Next's generated workflow route builds correctly.
For this cutover, the native ARM64/AMD64 workflow builds with Cap's production URL and Take Three desktop release repository, then copies the complete manifest to the existing ECR repository using the existing production OIDC role. Future promotion uses a reference unique to the workflow run and attempt. The new web image pin lands with the chart configuration; the unchanged media-server image is retained. Branch protections and IAM policies are unchanged.
Validation:
Actual locked Deepgram SDK protocol check preserves raw bytes, repeated language parameters, authentication, raw utterances and timestamps. Live synthetic Nova-3 transcription through the dedicated gateway key passed.
Both production architectures compiled successfully in workflow 41501240934, from application source e98297f782f9b6e09e46cf7f535dcdf98ac87dea. Later changes affect only workflow delivery and the reviewed image pin.
Scoped Biome, Actionlint and diff checks passed. Applicable application typecheck, formatting, lint and Socket checks passed on the built application source. All four actionable CodeRabbit findings were fixed and their threads resolved.
The inherited Compose check fails pulling the existing minio/mc:latest image before application startup. This is recorded separately from the production build and runtime checks.
The rollout uses the user's explicit admin-merge authorization; no current-head native CodeRabbit approval is claimed. Reviews used included capacity only.
Deployment is verified separately against the actual Argo revision, running image digest, injected scoped key, removal of the direct provider key, and synthetic in-pod SDK transcription/caption output. Full authenticated recording/upload, retry and browser UI regression remain manual QA; no customer recording is created or modified by these checks.
Production verification completed November 2 at 18:50Z: Argo is Synced and Healthy at merge 60c9dc56eaef2815521dddcea6e5ce4c9e9ad146; the running web image matches ECR digest sha256:d8ebcfda4e62d1e0494502af91cc5b7d559f07e85335489006c03356e3c7ee99. Web and media are each 1/1 ready. The actual deployed SDK through the internal gateway returned 15 words and 2 utterances with valid WebVTT, timestamps and expected synthetic phrases. The scoped key matches its canonical AWS secret, the direct Deepgram key is absent, and the public login returns 200. The redundant postmerge QEMU publisher was canceled after the successful native publication.

Walkthrough
Transcription now uses validated AI Gateway configuration instead of a direct Deepgram API key. Application availability checks, the transcription workflow, environment settings, and deployment configuration use the gateway URL and credentials. The web image workflow also adds optional publishing from GHCR to ECR.

Summary
Gateway configuration and validation packages/env/server.ts, apps/web/lib/transcription-gateway.ts
The server environment schema adds gateway and Cloudflare Access settings. New helpers validate endpoint and credential configuration and report whether transcription is configured.

The workflow uses validated gateway settings for Deepgram client requests. Application availability checks and the integration test now use gateway configuration.
Helm values and templates, production settings, and Compose configuration provide gateway settings. Documentation describes gateway configuration and transcription route requirements.
The optional ECR publishing job can tag an image from a different workflow run with this run's commit SHA if two dispatches overlap. Publish and copy by a run-specific tag or by digest before relying on the sha-tagged ECR images for production deploys.
