Superseded by #9579. Main got its own copy of #9560 as an extension hotfix (#9564). Staging only accepts squash merges, so main's history can't enter staging, and this PR kept conflicting on apps/sim/scripts/test-browser-extension-e2e.ts. #9579 releases from release/v0.9.41, which merges staging with main and resolves to staging's version of that file. Its tree is identical to staging's, because #9568 already brought the hotfix content into staging.
