Conversation
BC stopped changing clocks after March 8, 2026 and stays on UTC-7 year-round. Browsers reporting America/Vancouver previously fell back to America/Los_Angeles via 2024 offset matching, which shows BC users times an hour off after Nov 1. Summary
British Columbia moved to permanent UTC-7 ("Pacific time") after the March 8, 2026 spring-forward and will not fall back on November 1, 2026. From then on BC is an hour ahead of Washington and California through the winter.
allTimezoneshad no BC entry. A browser reportingAmerica/Vancouvermissed the exact match inTimezoneSelector.getLocalTimezone()and fell through to the 2024 Jan/Jul offset match, which pickedAmerica/Los_Angeles. After Nov 1 that would show BC users every poll and calendar time an hour off, and they had no zone they could pick to correct it.Changes
"America/Vancouver": "Pacific Time (British Columbia)"toallTimezonesinfrontend/src/constants.js. Vancouver browsers now get an exact match, BC users can choose the zone by hand, and the plugin API'sallTimezonescheck now acceptsAmerica/Vancouver.Notes
Intltz data, so they will be correct once the browser/OS has the updated rules (Chrome, Apple and Windows have shipped them). Clients with stale tzdata will still show GMT-8 for Vancouver until they update.time.LoadLocationfor Apple Calendar TZIDs (server/services/calendar/apple_calendar.go). Its tzdata should be current so BC events resolve correctly.Testing
npm run test:unit: 11/11 pass. There is no existing test for the time zone list.Generated by Claude Code
