🌪️ DisasterGuard AI

Detect. Protect. Respond.

DisasterGuard AI is a disaster management and emergency response platform designed to improve coordination during natural disasters and critical emergency situations.

During a disaster, every second matters. DisasterGuard AI brings hazard monitoring, emergency alerts, evacuation routes, safe shelters, location awareness, emergency operations, and SOS assistance into a connected platform to help citizens and emergency response teams make faster and more informed decisions.

🌟 Overview

Natural disasters such as floods, cyclones, heavy rainfall, and coastal emergencies can affect large populations within a short period of time.

During these situations, citizens may struggle to identify safe routes, locate shelters, understand current hazards, or communicate their emergency situation.

At the same time, emergency response teams need centralized information about affected areas, road conditions, shelters, and ongoing incidents.

When these processes are disconnected, valuable time can be lost.

DisasterGuard AI addresses this challenge by providing a centralized disaster management and emergency response platform.

The platform is designed to support:

  • 🌪️ Disaster and hazard monitoring
  • 🗺️ Live hazard maps
  • ⚠️ Emergency warnings
  • 🧭 Evacuation route assistance
  • 🏠 Safe shelter identification
  • 📍 Real-time location awareness
  • 🏢 Emergency Operations Center coordination
  • 🆘 Emergency SOS
  • 🧪 Disaster simulation
  • 🤖 AI-assisted disaster intelligence
  • 📊 Centralized emergency information

🎯 Problem Statement

During natural disasters, people often need to make important decisions with limited information.

Common challenges include:

  • Difficulty identifying dangerous areas
  • Lack of real-time disaster information
  • Difficulty finding safe evacuation routes
  • Difficulty locating available shelters
  • Lack of information about shelter capacity
  • Flooded or blocked roads
  • Communication gaps between citizens and emergency teams
  • Difficulty sharing the user's location during emergencies
  • Fragmented disaster-response systems
  • Limited centralized visibility for emergency-management teams

These issues can result in delays during situations where rapid response and accurate information are critical.

💡 Our Solution

DisasterGuard AI provides a unified digital platform that connects citizens, disaster-management teams, emergency operations, and safety infrastructure.

The platform focuses on five major areas:

🗺️ Hazard Monitoring

Users can monitor active disaster zones and understand the geographical extent of hazards.

🏠 Safe Shelter

The system helps users identify available shelters and provides information such as distance, estimated walking time, and available beds.

🧭 Evacuation

Users can identify safer routes while considering hazards and road conditions.

🏢 Emergency Operations

Emergency teams can use centralized information to monitor incidents and coordinate disaster response.

🆘 Emergency Assistance

The Emergency SOS functionality allows users to broadcast an emergency distress request along with their location information.

The goal is to create a connected disaster-response ecosystem instead of isolated emergency services.

🚀 Key Features

1. 🗺️ Live Hazard Map

DisasterGuard AI provides a live hazard-monitoring interface for visualizing disaster-affected areas.

The hazard map can support:

  • Disaster-zone visualization
  • Evacuation routes
  • Hazard boundaries
  • Location-based risk information
  • Radar-style monitoring
  • Color-coded disaster zones

The objective is to help users understand where danger exists and where safer movement may be possible.

2. 🏢 EOC Command

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) provides a centralized interface for disaster-management operations.

The EOC can be used to organize:

  • Active incidents
  • Emergency alerts
  • Disaster information
  • Response coordination
  • Shelter information
  • Emergency operations

This creates a centralized operational view for emergency-management teams.

3. 🌦️ News Disaster Map

The News Disaster Map provides a geographic view of disaster-related information.

It can help users visualize:

  • Weather-related hazards
  • Disaster information
  • Geographic risk zones
  • Emergency events
  • Color-coded weather conditions

This helps provide better situational awareness during rapidly changing disaster conditions.

4. 🏠 Safe Shelter Finder

Safe shelters are one of the most important components of disaster response.

DisasterGuard AI provides shelter information such as:

  • Shelter name
  • Distance from the user
  • Estimated safe walking time
  • Available beds
  • Shelter capacity
  • Shelter location
  • Safety status

5. 📍 Real-Time Location Awareness

Location information plays an important role in disaster response.

DisasterGuard AI can use location information to support:

User position Hazard identification Shelter recommendations Evacuation routes Emergency SOS

6. ⚠️ Active Zone Warnings

DisasterGuard AI provides a centralized warning section for active disaster conditions.

Example warning categories include:

🔴 Critical Flood Surge Warning

Provides information about dangerous flood or coastal surge conditions.

🟠 Road Inundation Detected

Indicates that roads or underpasses may be blocked by floodwater.

🔵 New High-Capacity Shelter Opened

Provides information about newly available emergency shelter capacity.

The warning system helps users quickly identify important changes in their surroundings.

7. 🧭 Evacuation Route Assistance

DisasterGuard AI is designed to assist users in identifying safer evacuation routes.

The system can consider:

Current user location Hazard zones Flooded roads Blocked roads Available shelters Alternative routes

The intended workflow is:

Current Location ↓ Hazard Detection ↓ Road Condition Analysis ↓ Available Shelter Identification ↓ Route Calculation ↓ Evacuation Assistance

This can help users make more informed decisions during an evacuation.

8. 🆘 Emergency SOS

The Emergency SOS system provides a dedicated emergency action for users who require assistance.

The intended workflow is:

Emergency Situation ↓ User Activates SOS ↓ Location Information ↓ Emergency Distress Transmission ↓ Emergency Response Team ↓ Rescue / Assistance

The dashboard provides a prominent SOS interface so that emergency assistance can be accessed quickly.

9. 🧪 Disaster Simulation Lab

The Simulation Lab provides a controlled environment for testing disaster scenarios.

Potential simulations include:

🌊 Flood scenarios 🌀 Cyclone scenarios 🌧️ Heavy rainfall 🌊 Coastal flooding 🚧 Road blockage 🏠 Shelter capacity changes

Simulation capabilities can help emergency-management teams evaluate response procedures before real-world deployment. Emergency response coordination
