Summary

• Replace the starter homepage with a responsive, handwritten HTML + CSS portfolio featuring Lamplight and Animal Mania. Project summaries were checked against their public READMEs and recent commits; private repositories and upstream forks are excluded.
• Use system fonts, a local WebP gameplay capture, no JavaScript, no analytics, and no runtime GitHub API calls. Total homepage HTML/CSS/assets: 69,436 bytes uncompressed.
• Preserve the existing Jekyll posts, conference pages, layouts, and URLs. Repair the malformed collection default that has blocked Pages builds since 2018.
• Add a PR build check using the official GitHub Pages toolchain. No deployment or Pages settings changes.

Validation

• GitHub Pages build passed. Downloaded its actual github-pages artifact and served that output locally—not just the source tree.
• Built homepage HTML/CSS match the handwritten source byte-for-byte.
• Chromium checks at 320, 390, 768, 1024, and 1440 CSS pixels: no horizontal overflow, image loaded, no clipped workflow steps, zero script elements, and only same-origin asset requests.
• Keyboard skip link and section navigation exercised. Followed the source link to the live Lamplight repository and the play link to animalmania.app.
• axe-core 4.12.1: zero violations. Two incomplete contrast checks cover decorative arrows/dots only; manually reviewed as non-content.
• YAML parse/collection assertion and git diff --check passed.
• Not tested in Safari/Firefox or on physical devices. Local timing is not presented as a production performance benchmark.

Runtime requests returned HTTP 200 for /, /portfolio.css, both portfolio assets, /Hello-World/, /connecttech2018/index/, /connecttech2018/jekyll-4-fun/, /about/, /404.html, /feed.xml, and /sitemap.xml.

Proof screenshots, downloaded build output, and verification scripts remain outside Git; only the seven intended implementation/configuration files are in this PR. The gameplay WebP is an intentional site asset, not a proof-only file.

Publication and maintenance

Merged and deployed on October 15, 2026. Live at https://redreceipt.github.io/. Both the post-merge build check and Pages deployment passed. Live HTTP requests verified the homepage matches the merged HTML byte-for-byte, all portfolio assets load, and sampled legacy URLs still return 200. No automerge is enabled. The gallery is curated and must be updated manually; the README explains the selection and update process.

The old Jekyll publishing path remains solely to render legacy content. The new portfolio itself has no front matter, Liquid templates, or build dependencies and can be previewed with Python’s standard-library HTTP server.
