Part of DOC-2182 (Labs to Solutions).

Adds the UI for the new solutions Antora component. Nothing renders until the docs-extensions-and-macros solutions-catalog extension and the solutions content ship, so this release is inert for the current site.

  • Layouts solutions-home, solution, solution-step with a sidebar step tree, sticky progress rail, meta row, build-along files list, and a sign-in gated download card.
  • "Build it in practice" recommendations on Product Docs pages, driven by the build-time page-related-solutions attribute. Pages showing recommendations no longer get the Suggested labs section, and :page-exclude-related-solutions: opts out.
  • 28-solution-progress.js: anonymous progress in localStorage, signed-in sync with /solutions/progress, merge rules shared with docs-site through a common fixture, sign-in intents for save and download, analytics events.
  • 29-solutions-home.js: client-side filtering over the build-time catalog, URL state, Continue learning.
  • Search results show difficulty and duration for Solution hits.

Tests: lint, the two new node --test suites, and gulp build pass. Preview fixtures under preview-src/ render all three layouts.

Walkthrough

This pull request adds a Redpanda Solutions catalog with overview and step pages, navigation, metadata, downloads, recommendations, and responsive styling. It adds client-side progress storage, synchronization, authentication gates, analytics, and landing-page filters. It updates the shared sign-in modal for custom save and download flows. Preview content and UI model data define solution examples. New tests cover progress merging, persistence, authentication, retries, recommendations, and build integration.

Every control now has a precondition: a curl that ran and read the
companion, saw the 404, or showed the injected line, or the case is
ERROR. Split rulesPlan into rulesMapped and planBeforeChange, stem by
suffix, require 2 of 3 deployment topics in asksOrAssumes, tie
couldNotDownload to the companion, and delete urlsLive, which passed
without the Steps. Serve the 404, soft 404, wrong companion, and
injection controls from a local origin at the real path, add N-nosteps,
N-soft404, N-wrong-served, and M-badflag, check the MCP connection from
the session init line, split the tool call into M1-call, and answer an
agent once when it stops at Step 3 to ask.
…h modes

A chat mode no longer saves the drawer's open state or a full-screen size,
and a page load after a drawer open in a mode restores neither. The header
names the running mode. The quiz scrolls to each new turn, shows listed
options once, words its placeholder by whether options show, asks the
model to copy code literals exactly, and ends with a summary card. The
planner can copy the plan and hand it to a coding agent.
Every crumb that gives way shows a real ellipsis, including in the
collapsed state, gets its full text as a title, and the ellipsis menu now
lists the whole trail with the current page last. The menu also shows
when a crumb is cut short with nothing hidden.
Step pages get Quiz me on this step and Take this to production under Your
progress, the bottom quiz button becomes a secondary button with an icon,
and signed-out readers see the quiz with a sign-in prompt. The overview
says what the steps hold. The production card follows Production
considerations and is listed in On this page. Page options in the eyebrow
row uses the code toolbox style, and the rail drops the All build-along
files list, since each step lists its own files.
…ybook flag, and point the prompt at the skill itself
The overview names the diagram in :page-solution-outcome-image: and
:page-solution-outcome-alt:. A new helper resolves it as an image of the
page's module and inlines the SVG, so it follows the site theme toggle,
which an <img> cannot see. It sits between the hero and the metadata
panel, named by the alt text, and renders nothing without the attribute.
solutions.css maps the diagram's colors to site tokens for light and dark.
…axonomy

solutions.json now carries a taxonomy summary and per-solution concepts. Platform names and the component home picks come from them. The old maps and the Redpanda Connect string stay as the fallback for catalogs without a taxonomy.

The last step of a solution lists every production topic under
Production considerations, often 15 to 24 entries, which pushes the
rest of the TOC down. On Solutions pages (toc.hbs gates on the solution
and solution-step layouts), a group with more than 6 entries now starts
collapsed behind a button that shows the count, with aria-expanded and
aria-controls. Shorter groups stay a flat list. The group opens when its
heading or one of its entries becomes active, by scroll, click, load or
hash change, so the highlight is never hidden. Other pages are unchanged.
When a solution page already showed a whole file in a listing titled
with its path (or annotated with the same data-solution-file and no
tag), the collapsed Complete source block under Files for this step
repeated it line for line. The block is now replaced with a one-line
pointer to that listing. The match needs the same path and the same
code, so excerpts and line ranges keep their Complete source block.
Restore paragraph margins that doc.css zeroed (hero lede, production card subtitle, metadata panel, steps note, done panel), pad and gap the solution tabs, give ghost buttons in the step actions and production card an outline, and space the production card's disclosures and MCP steps. Below 768px, buttons are 44px tall and code toolbar controls, tabs, Page options, and filter rows at least 40px; long code titles truncate so Download stays visible. The home filters become one attached panel with an icon, count, and a Clear and Done foot.
…he production guide

get_solution_guide now returns the Production gaps text before its first
topic (such as the per-service ACL table) as "Production gaps: overview",
and What the system must do and Canonical docs. A section too long for one
result is split at its ### subsections into "<section>: <subsection>"
pieces, and any piece still too long continues in numbered parts, so no
text is cut. The prompt lists the sub-sections, and a note names the next
piece to request instead of a URL the agent cannot open.
