Draft. It tracks the redis-iris 1.0.0 on-prem release. It adds the lifecycle and operations content from M6 (redislabsdev/iris#2368, merged 2026-11-03 as eaa218fb) to the suite pages.

Keep in draft until 1.0.0 is cut. As of today, redis-iris isn't published to https://helm.redis.io/ai. The umbrella Chart.yaml on main is 0.6.0, and its README still lists the product chart pins (0.10.2), Lens, and Intent Router as waiting on M7. Before this merges, re-check it against the commit that's tagged 1.0.0.

Changes

New page: operate/iris/self-managed/operations.md, from the M6 runbooks and the umbrella README:

  • Upgrade, with the version rules and --atomic, and recovery from an interrupted upgrade (pending-upgrade).
  • Roll back. A rollback never restores credentials. Keep the chart archive of each version.
  • Rotate the metadata Redis credential: the Secrets to update, the restart order, and keeping the old user (MOD-20791).
  • Planned outage of the metadata Redis: which components turn unready and which stay ready (MOD-20800).
  • Restore a lost namespace from a Secret export, and what happens without the export.
  • Remove a service permanently: the key patterns by service, CROSSSLOT-safe deletion, queues, search indexes, and Context Gateway's Vault or AWS credential storage.
  • Uninstall: what helm uninstall leaves behind, and how to remove it.

operate/iris/self-managed/_index.md

  • Preflight: the check table, including the GitOps credential-key check, a post-install run from secret/<ns>/iris-preflight, and the EKS workloadIdentity settings.
  • Availability: the fixed rollout and PodDisruptionBudgets, the default replicas (Memory HPA 2–10 / 2–5), the 5-second SIGTERM drain, and the note that a Deployment with one replica gets no PodDisruptionBudget.
  • The credentials uninstall command moved to the new page, using the runbook's app.kubernetes.io/instance=iris label.

Left out: the EKS runbook (iris-onprem-eks.md), which is an internal test procedure, and the umbrella's per-milestone upgrade notes (0.1.0 → 0.6.0), which are preview versions. Customers start at 1.0.0.

Related: #4469 (Identity Service). Its operations page overlaps with the metadata Redis rotation and outage sections here. Once both land, it can link to this page.

Open questions for the 1.0.0 cut

  • Do the support bundle, the air-gapped image list, and the release inventory (README "Limitations", M7/M8) ship in 1.0.0? If not, add them to "Not supported in this release".
  • Does the 1.0.0 release notes page say which upgrade paths are supported from 1.0.0 onward?

…tails

Add operate/iris/self-managed/operations.md (upgrade, rollback, metadata
Redis rotation and outage, namespace restore, service removal, uninstall)
from the redis-iris M6 runbooks, and update the suite preflight and
availability sections. Draft until redis-iris 1.0.0 is cut.
