license: Where does GPL-3.0-with-GCC-exception come from? #258
I understand the BSD-GPL duality in this project, but I'm a bit confused by GPL-2.0 AND BSD-3-Clause AND GPL-3.0-with-GCC-exception AND BSD-2-Clause which is set as the license in pyproject.toml (and e.g. shown on pypi).
If I read LICENSE.txt correctly, there is a BSD-3-Clause on top and then a GPL-2.0 below. Where do the BSD-2-Clause and the GPL-3.0-with-GCC-exception come from?
"Grepping" for 'gpl' or 'bsd' didn't show anything in the repo.
Slycot itself is not licensed under GPL-3.0-with-GCC-exception AND BSD-2-Clause, but rather, several dependencies have those licenses. The addition to pyproject.toml was via #252 and I suspect that pyproject.toml was updated to make it unambiguous that the wheel (a built file with linked dependencies included) is subject to all of those licenses.
@roryyorke I read through the comments at #252 but I did not see any disagreement about changing pyproject.toml. However, I think putting the licenses of dependencies in the license field is not the intended meaning of the license field. The combination of licenses is only applicable to bundled binary distributions (e.g., wheels on PyPI). What do you think about changing pyproject.toml to the original license = "GPL-2.0 AND BSD-3-Clause" ?

Thanks for the clarification and the fast responses!
I'll keep this issue open and let you close by the merge then.
