feat: Reload from disk + tab right-click menu; re-link files that lost their disk link - #83
Merged
Conversation
… their disk link - Reload button, File menu item, palette command and Ctrl+Shift+R (desktop) read the file from disk now. A file with no disk link is found again through the desktop app's opened paths, or located in a dialog. - On launch, workspace files that lost their link (opened before desktop 0.19.0 or brought by sync) are linked again where the desktop app knows the path. - The disk wins: a copy that differs from disk without typing here is replaced on the next check, not only when the disk changes again. - Right-click a tab: Reload from disk, Close tab, Close all but this tab, Close all tabs. Anthony, after 0.28.0: the desktop app still showed a stale copy while Sublime showed the real file. He asked for (a) a refresh button and (b) a right-click menu on tabs with Close tab / Close all but this tab / Close all tabs.
Why it was still stale: the file probably had no link to disk at all. It was opened before desktop 0.19.0 (no link survived a restart) or it came from sync, so no watcher or poll ever read it.
What changed
find-opened) or asks you to point at it (locate). If you have unsaved typing, Reload asks before replacing it, and your edits stay in History.Tests: new viewer.spec covering a lost link, Reload → locate, automatic re-link on the next launch, and the tab menu. The sync-copy spec now expects the disk to win on launch. The desktop and disk specs pass when run one at a time (this box crashes the browser when they run in parallel). Unit tests pass.
Versions: npm 0.29.0, desktop 0.21.0.
