docs(site): add changelog entries 2026-10-09 to 2026-11-04 - #8741
Adds five weekly changelog entries that close the gap between the 2026-10-02 entry and today, at apps/site/content/changelog/:
Entry
Window
Headline
2026-10-09.mdx
Oct 3 to Oct 9
Prisma ORM 8 migrations ask before they drop data (--rename, --delete); runtime logs and branch comparison in the Console; one config file for Composer
2026-10-16.mdx
Oct 10 to Oct 16
Paid plans renew on the upgrade day, with billing periods in the Console; project-scoped service tokens with expiry; mixins and weighted full-text search in rc.18; Studio 0.34
2026-10-23.mdx
Oct 17 to Oct 23
prisma dev --detach, dev url, dev stop, emulator list; piped prisma output is plain data and needs --json; @onCreate/@onUpdate in rc.19; namespace renames in rc.20; Prisma ORM 7.10.1
2026-10-30.mdx
Oct 24 to Oct 30
Custom domains on preview branches with TXT ownership verification; Composer addresses, prisma deploy list, @env:address subjects; DateTime reads a JavaScript Date in rc.22; MySQL early preview
2026-11-04.mdx
Oct 31 to Nov 4
Official Prisma plugin for ChatGPT; --environment replaces --stage; prisma dev --environment; Console setup and deploy fixes
The biggest change in the whole window is that Prisma ORM 8 migrations no longer drop data on --confirm, followed by the billing-period change for every paid workspace, custom domains on branches, and the ChatGPT plugin launch.
Each entry stands alone, keeps the Early Access deletion (Nov 1) and Accelerate retirement (Dec 1) reminders until they pass, and follows the 2026-10-02 entry's shape.
Also fixes the /changelog area filter, which hid most entries. Each entry was assigned one product area by a priority list, so an entry tagged both Prisma ORM and Prisma Postgres only appeared under Postgres, and the new entries, tagged Compute and Postgres, only under Compute. Selecting ORM showed 14 of the 47 entries tagged with it. In apps/site/src, categoriesForTags now returns every area an entry's tags name (the first still colours the card), the pills are multi-select, and an entry shows when it is in any selected area. All updates clears the selection. Each card shows a chip per area it belongs to, and the Nov 4 entry is now tagged Prisma ORM as well. Tests in changelog-meta.test.ts cover the derivation.
Dates readers must act on
November 1, 2026: Prisma Postgres Early Access databases deleted (repeated in the October entries; the Nov 4 entry no longer mentions it).
December 1, 2026: Accelerate retired (repeated in every entry).
Sources
Prisma ORM release notes docs/releases/v8.0.0-rc.15.md through v8.0.0-rc.22.md and the 7.10.1 GitHub release, which are the only source for every ORM claim and PR link.
prisma/prisma-cli releases v8.0.0-rc.20 through v8.0.0-rc.30, and npm view prisma@<version> dependencies to map each CLI release to the Composer and ORM toolchain versions it bundles (the date a Composer feature reaches users is the CLI release date).
prisma/composer releases v0.26.0 through v0.36.0 and the PR bodies behind them.
Merged PRs in every loggy-core repository for merged:2026-09-30..2026-11-04: prisma/orm (238), prisma/web (359), prisma/pdp-control-plane (326, private), prisma/pdp-cloudflare (27), prisma/pdp-metal (23), prisma/ppg-pg-extension (11), prisma/studio (7), prisma/project-compute (6), prisma/inf-ppg-infrastructure (5), prisma/ignite (3), prisma/ppg-unikraft-image (2); prisma-engines, prisma-next, ppg-client, drive, shared-agent-skills, prisma-extension-accelerate had none.
Published docs pages on origin/main, checked against production for a 200, and the public OpenAPI spec for the service-token and domain-ownership fields.
Blog posts by frontmatter date.
Review focus
Weekly cadence and backdating. The request was one entry per missing week, so the dates are the end of each week rather than the day the entry lands. The index page sorts by date, so these will slot in under the 2026-10-02 entry.
Studio 0.34 (Oct 16 entry).@prisma/studio-core 0.34.0/0.34.1 published on Oct 15 and the Console consumes 0.34.1. I could not confirm that prisma studio in the CLI carries it, so the entry says "Prisma Studio in the Console".
Billing cycle (Oct 16 entry). The Oct 9 Console PRs (period selector, meter, invoice grouping) only became visible with the Oct 12 anchor change, so the whole story is in the Oct 16 entry.
Product names and maturity. "Prisma ORM 8 is still a release candidate" appears once per entry; Composer carries no maturity label (docs dropped "Early Access" on Oct 23, docs(composer): drop the Early Access label from Composer pages #8563); Prisma Compute carries none. The 2026-10-02 entry said the final ORM 8 release was expected in October; these entries do not restate a date.
Items sourced from private repositories, worth a look in the product: runtime logs and Topology comparison (Oct 9), free-tier 24-hour access restore (Oct 9), Prisma-Connecting-IP/Prisma-Request-ID headers (Oct 9), project deletion stopping apps (Oct 9), billing period views (Oct 16), project-scoped service tokens (Oct 16), auth.prisma.io email sign-in (Oct 16), GitHub connection changes (Oct 16), agent settings per workspace (Oct 16), 30-second drain on deploy (Oct 16), schema view in Topology (Oct 16), 50%/90% usage emails (Oct 23), branch domains + TXT verification + Cloudflare guidance (Oct 30), branch creation without buckets (Oct 30), Vercel DATABASE_URL_POOLED (Oct 30), sign-out everywhere (Oct 30), MCP 30-day reconnect fix (Oct 30), repo picker search (Oct 30), noindex on prisma.build (Oct 30), Console setup/deploy fixes and consent page (Nov 4), clone no longer blocking the source (Nov 4).
Screenshots owed. Four headline sections are about Console screens and have no screenshot yet: runtime logs (Oct 9), billing period (Oct 16), service token creation (Oct 16), branch domain setup with the TXT record (Oct 30). They need captures from a demo workspace.
Triage notes
Held back, needs confirmation that it is public
Free plan storage raised to 2 GiB-months in enforcement (pdp-control-plane, Oct 22): the pricing page already says 2 GB, but the PR says existing workspaces only change after a manual production script. Not mentioned as a change in any entry.
Agent enrollment through the MCP OAuth flow (Oct 5): the PR says the rollout was operator-gated.
Referral program in the Console ("Refer & earn", $25 credits, Oct 1 to Oct 9): behind a visibility gate per the PR bodies.
Console build mode (119 PRs across the window): gated to users with an allow row; not public.
Sign in through auth.prisma.io from the Console (Oct 27) and OpenID Connect sign-in without a workspace (Nov 3): flag off in production / signing key not yet set.
Workspace member access roles schema (Nov 4): assignment stays off.
Sign-in rate limits (10 failed attempts per 15 minutes, Oct 26): security mechanics, left out.
Automatic restart of a stopped Prisma Postgres VM (Oct 14): behind a feature flag per the PR.
Pooler restarts under heavy load fixed (Oct 14): the client-side half lives in a repository outside loggy-core; could not confirm it shipped.
Backup residency (new backup buckets placed in the database's region, Oct 5/7) and six-full backup retention (default Nov 2): the public docs state retention by plan in days, which did not change; a product or legal call whether to say anything.
Query Insights attribution fix for failed inner queries (Oct 9): could not confirm the image that carries it reached users.
PITR "coming in November 2026" and "early 2027" roadmap items (WebSockets, cron, read replicas) added to docs and product guides: unshipped, not mentioned.
Compute GA blog post backdated to Aug 26 (merged Oct 8): already-announced launch with open SLA wording; not listed as a new post.
Terms of Service and SLA refresh effective Oct 12: legal copy; not mentioned.
HIPAA on the Business plan: the Oct 16 entry links the HIPAA page and the BAA using the page's own words, without the price.
/stack marketing page (Oct 2) and the Builders Handbook (not routed): not mentioned.
Dependency bumps, CI, build, hosting moves (Console/MCP/Auth to Compute), observability, analytics, consent, SEO, redirects, Markdown plumbing, internal docs and ADRs, schema-only migrations, billing internals, blog fact refreshes on existing posts (about 100), docs copy fixes (about 60), site copy passes (about 25).
Four billing accuracy fixes that add previously unbilled usage to invoices (first storage day, last 10 minutes of request usage, last second of storage day, Vercel Compute closing hours): pricing-adjacent and not a feature; a human should decide whether to mention them.
Two security fixes stated as outcome only would still name the gap (Vercel secret rotation not revoking the old credential, unverified-password account linking): left out.
Composer rawHttp() (Oct 19), resolve() per-environment values (Oct 29), Composer-internal ADRs: library-author detail without a docs page.
Capacity added in Singapore and other host operations.
Docs that lag the product (worth separate PRs)
https://www.prisma.io/docs/cli/dev redirects to /docs/cli/v7/dev in production, so the Prisma ORM 8 prisma dev reference is unreachable; the entries link /docs/composer/local-development instead.
/docs/cli/deploy and /docs/composer/deploying still document --stage and the CLI page has no deploy list; /docs/composer/local-development still says an unset secret gets a placeholder; /docs/rest-api/authentication still says service tokens never expire; /docs/compute/domains still says production-only.
Second pass: CodeRabbit and an independent accuracy review
CodeRabbit raised 14 findings over two rounds, all applied. The ones that changed facts: the Composer 0.35.0 rename and credential replacement start with prisma@8.0.0-rc.28, not rc.29; the Node.js ranges are per major line (23 and 25 are out) and are declared by the prisma and Composer packages, not the @prisma/orm-* libraries; destroy() keeps its config argument; scripts must upgrade @prisma/composer with the extension; and @prisma/composer-prisma-cloud@0.36.0 still peer-pins @prisma/orm-postgres@8.0.0-rc.20, so npm refuses an install beside rc.22 without --legacy-peer-deps (confirmed with an npm dry run, tracked as composer#413, stated in the Nov 4 entry).
Five independent reviewers then checked about 460 claims against release notes, PR bodies, npm, the OpenAPI spec, and live docs. Every WRONG and IMPRECISE finding is applied. The ones a reader would have tripped on:
Oct 23 samples ran on the wrong version. On rc.24 to rc.27 an address has no app prefix (gateway, catalog.database) and prisma dev still takes the entry file (prisma dev module.ts --detach); the app-prefixed form and config-file entry arrive with rc.28 in the Oct 30 entry. The piped-output rule also landed per command group: platform commands in rc.24, ORM commands in rc.26, prisma deploy in rc.27.
Oct 9 said the Console workflow's teardown job was fixed; it was removed, and older repositories keep a failing job until they delete it. The prisma dev for Prisma ORM 7 apps claim had no source and is gone.
Oct 16 cited two answer pages that landed the following week, a README that is instructions.md, and Studio fixes that only apply to @prisma/studio-core against your own database. Renewal on the 29th to 31st falls on the last day of a shorter month.
Oct 30 cited the deprecated POST /v1/apps/{appId}/domains route (the services route is current), omitted that a Prisma 7 schema's DateTime change and the rc.21 MongoDB contract rules need prisma contract emit and prisma db sign, and described the old shared-CNAME gap that the triage brief said not to describe. The deploy list sample now uses --environment with a comment for rc.28 and rc.29.
Nov 4 said the Console's setup PR failed to install; it was never opened. The dotenv advice now says to keep development-only values out of the loaded .env, because a deploy run from that folder seeds them.
One new reviewer decision.prisma/cloud-deploy-action (v1 = main at 5e15880, Oct 29) still passes --stage for every branch other than the default one, so a Console-set-up workflow whose pin is raised to rc.30 breaks preview and staging deploys. The Nov 4 entry tells readers to keep the pin below rc.30 until the action sends --environment. That action needs a release, and the entry should be updated when it ships.
Checks
node .claude/skills/content-write-changelog/scripts/check-entry.mjs <entry> --links on all five: frontmatter, MDX compile, and every link and anchor pass, except three expected findings: /changelog/2026-10-09, linked from the Oct 16 entry, 404s until this PR deploys, and https://pris.ly/gpt-plugin and https://chatgpt.com/codex return 403 to non-browser clients (the short link redirects to the ChatGPT plugin page, which blocks curl). Both come from the launch post.
check-plain.sh, check-staccato.py, check-ai-signs.sh on all five: clean, apart from the closing thematic break that check-ai-signs.sh is expected to report. Two lines carry {/* plain-language:defined */} for the Console's Topology view, a UI label.
Filter fix: the site test suite, type check, and oxfmt/oxlint on the changed files pass. The remaining findings in changelog-hero.tsx and changelog/[slug]/page.tsx are pre-existing and untouched. Not checked in a browser.
Each entry went through two cold-read rounds with the docs-reader-review persona (a Prisma ORM 7 user on Prisma Postgres and Compute). The second round's remaining blockers were the same across entries and are now addressed at first use in each: the two version lines (prisma tool vs @prisma/orm-* library), what the contract and prisma db sign are, and what Composer is in relation to a Compute app. Rewritten sentences were checked against the release notes and PR bodies again.
Changelog filters now support selecting multiple product categories, and entries display all applicable category labels.
Added changelog coverage of Prisma ORM 8 upgrades and breaking changes, CLI workflows, scoped and expiring service tokens, Compute custom domains, and the Prisma ChatGPT plugin.
Added updates on billing periods, Console runtime logs and environment comparisons, and Prisma Postgres cloning.
Updates
Published product fixes, upgrade guidance, and documentation updates across Prisma products.
Included Prisma Postgres Early Access and Accelerate retirement timelines and migration information.
Five weekly entries covering October 3 to November 4, 2026, closing the gap after the 2026-10-02 entry. Headlines: Prisma ORM 8 migrations ask before they drop data (rc.17), paid plans renew on the upgrade day and project-scoped service tokens, prisma dev --detach/url/stop and plain piped output (CLI rc.24), custom domains on preview branches with TXT ownership verification plus Composer addresses (rc.28/rc.29), and the official Prisma plugin for ChatGPT with --environment replacing --stage (rc.30).

The change adds five dated changelog entries for October 9, October 16, October 23, October 30, and November 4, 2026. It also adds multi-area categories for changelog entries and updates the feed to support filtering by multiple categories.
Adds categories to changelog entries and derives all matching product areas from tags. categoryForTags continues to return one category. Tests cover category matching and fallback behavior.
The page passes each entry’s full category list to the feed. The feed toggles categories independently, counts entries for each category, and displays entries matching any selected category.
Some readers may miss an upgrade step or continue to encounter SSL connection failures. Both issues have bounded workarounds and can be corrected in the changelog.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Upgrade the Composer extension with the CLI.
Replacing --stage is not sufficient for an app using @prisma/composer-prisma-cloud 0.35.0. CLI rc.30 includes Composer 0.36.0, which rejects that extension with DEPS.EXTENSION_INCOMPATIBLE. Tell users to upgrade the extension and CLI together; the new extension also rejects older CLIs. (github.com)

- Line 100: Update the cross-reference in the Prisma ORM 8 release-candidate
migration instruction so it names the breaking change about the contract file
format instead of referring to the first breaking change; preserve the
surrounding migration steps and the separate `--confirm` reference.
Review comments at @apps/site/content/changelog/2026-10-30.mdx:
- Line 34: Update the PrismButtonOutline CTA so it is not published until the
custom-domain guide reflects the preview-app workflow and TXT-verification
steps; alternatively, publish that guide update with this changelog entry before
keeping the link active.
Review comments at @apps/site/content/changelog/2026-11-04.mdx:
- Line 62: Update the `prisma.config.ts` guidance to tell users to install
`dotenv` before adding `import "dotenv/config";`, while preserving the
alternative of exporting secrets in the shell used to run `prisma dev`.
- Line 62: Update the changelog guidance around `import "dotenv/config";` to
warn that `prisma deploy` evaluates `prisma.config.ts` and a first deploy can
copy missing `envSecret` values from the deploying shell into a new stage.
Advise keeping local-only values out of deploy environments or using separate
environment-specific secret stores, without implying this applies to production.
- Line 20: Update the Prisma 7 guidance in this changelog entry to clarify that
a package.json pin does not constrain scripts that invoke prisma@latest; tell
Prisma 7 users to check those scripts and pin them to version 7, while
preserving the existing guidance for other users.

upgrade the project’s @prisma/composer package to the compatible version as well
as @prisma/composer-prisma-cloud. Make clear that this requirement applies to

- Line 61: Update the upgrade guidance around `prisma@8.0.0-rc.30` and

with `@prisma/orm-postgres`: document a verified supported resolution, or state

Entries: rc.28 is the Composer 0.35.0 threshold, Node.js ranges by major
line and package scope, rc.18/rc.20 upgrade pointers, destroy() keeps
config, composer peer pin (composer#413), cloud-deploy-action still sends
--stage, Oct 23 samples use the rc.24 to rc.27 address and entry-file forms,
piped-output timing per command group, teardown job removed not fixed,
deprecated apps domains route, Mongo contract rules, DateTime sign step.
Feed: ORM matches as a word so Platform is not an ORM entry; each card shows
a chip per area; the Nov 4 entry is tagged Prisma ORM.

- **If your scripts create service tokens through the API**, decide whether they should expire. A token created without `expiresAt` now expires after 90 days. Pass `"expiresAt": null` to keep creating tokens that never expire, or a date to choose your own. Tokens that already exist are not affected.
- **If you run the `prisma` tool or a Composer app on Node.js older than 22.18, on 24.0 to 24.10, or on the 23 or 25 line**, move to a supported version. Since `prisma@8.0.0-rc.23`, the `prisma` package, and since Composer 0.30.0 the Composer packages, declare Node.js 22.18 or newer on the 22 line, 24.11 or newer on the 24 line, or 26 or newer. The `@prisma/orm-*` library packages declare no range. On other versions, npm and pnpm print a warning, pnpm with `engine-strict` refuses to install, and Yarn 1 refuses too. The Prisma ORM 7 packages are not affected. The [supported versions](https://www.prisma.io/docs/orm/supported-versions) page lists every minimum. ([prisma-cli#343](https://github.com/prisma/prisma-cli/pull/343))
- **If you are on a Prisma ORM 8 release candidate older than `8.0.0-rc.18`**, follow the [rc.18 upgrade guide](https://github.com/prisma/orm/blob/v8.0.0-rc.18/skills/prisma-8/upgrading/app/upgrades/8.0.0-rc.17-to-8.0.0-rc.18/). Its `instructions.md` gives the command for the script that rewrites the raw SQL in your `.prisma` files. Then run `prisma contract emit`. The contract is a generated file that describes your schema, which the client and the migration commands read, much as `prisma generate` wrote the client in Prisma ORM 7. Then follow the breaking changes below, and if you wrote middleware, rename its hooks.

Include the upgrade steps for earlier release candidates.
The linked guide covers only rc.17 to rc.18. For example, a project upgrading from rc.16 can still have MongoDB index syntax that rc.17 stopped accepting. The rc.18 guide does not direct that project to rewrite it. Link the applicable earlier upgrade guides too. (github.com)

Update the Prisma ORM release-candidate upgrade instructions to link the
applicable earlier upgrade guides as well as the rc.18 guide, so users upgrading
from versions such as rc.16 are directed through the required intermediate
steps, including the MongoDB index syntax rewrite. Preserve the existing rc.18
instructions and subsequent steps.

Prisma Studio in the Console is on `@prisma/studio-core` 0.34.1, the first release since July. The schema visualizer now remembers where you dragged each table, with a **Reset layout** action, and the data grid's footer shows how many rows the current result set holds, after filters and search.
The release also fixes bugs that had been waiting since the summer. Editing a Postgres enum array cell no longer fails with `Update Operation failed`. Column widths and order no longer reset when you pin or unpin a column, horizontal scrolling in a wide table no longer jumps, and the last column can be reached. In the `@prisma/studio-core` package, which runs Studio against your own database, a connection string with libpq SSL parameters such as `sslrootcert` and `sslmode` now connects instead of being refused, and SQLite date and time edits no longer save `NaN`. Staged edits on rows that were loaded by scrolling now save. A failed **Refresh table** keeps the last rows visible with an inline error and a retry. Postgres types show their common names, so `int8` is shown as `bigint`. In a schema view with no comparison, models are no longer all labelled "unchanged".

Explain how to enable the SSL connection fix.
Upgrading @prisma/studio-core alone does not fix an existing postgres.js connection. The host must call the new createPostgresJSConnectionConfig helper and pass its result to postgres(). Otherwise, sslrootcert is still forwarded to the server and the connection fails. (github.com)

Update the changelog entry to explain that hosts using postgres.js must call the
new createPostgresJSConnectionConfig helper and pass its result to postgres() to
enable the SSL connection fix; upgrading @prisma/studio-core alone is
insufficient for existing connections.

--confirm, followed by the billing-period change for every paid workspace, custom domains on branches, and the ChatGPT plugin launch. Each entry stands alone, keeps the Early Access deletion (Nov 1) and Accelerate retirement (Dec 1) reminders until they pass, and follows the 2026-10-02 entry's shape.
Also fixes the
/changelogarea filter, which hid most entries. Inapps/site/src,categoriesForTagsnow returns every area an entry's tags name (the first still colours the card), the pills are multi-select, and an entry shows when it is in any selected area. All updates clears the selection. Each card shows a chip per area it belongs to, and the Nov 4 entry is now tagged Prisma ORM as well. Tests inchangelog-meta.test.tscover the derivation.Dates readers must act on

prisma@8.0.0-rc.28, Oct 27) changes are live. Docs PR docs(compute): explain domain verification and Cloudflare proxying #8581 (TXT verification) is merged, but docs(compute): document custom domains on branches #8514 (branch domains) is not, and https://www.prisma.io/docs/compute/domains still says domains are production-only. CodeRabbit raised 14 findings over two rounds, all applied. The ones that changed facts: the Composer 0.35.0 rename and credential replacement start with
prisma@8.0.0-rc.28, not rc.29; the Node.js ranges are per major line (23 and 25 are out) and are declared by theprismaand Composer packages, not the@prisma/orm-*libraries;destroy()keeps itsconfigargument; scripts must upgrade@prisma/composerwith the extension; and@prisma/composer-prisma-cloud@0.36.0still peer-pins@prisma/orm-postgres@8.0.0-rc.20, so npm refuses an install beside rc.22 without--legacy-peer-deps(confirmed with an npm dry run, tracked as composer#413, stated in the Nov 4 entry).Five independent reviewers then checked about 460 claims against release notes, PR bodies, npm, the OpenAPI spec, and live docs. Every WRONG and IMPRECISE finding is applied. The ones a reader would have tripped on:
gateway, catalog.database) andprisma devstill takes the entry file (prisma dev module.ts --detach); the app-prefixed form and config-file entry arrive with rc.28 in the Oct 30 entry. The piped-output rule also landed per command group: platform commands in rc.24, ORM commands in rc.26,prisma deployin rc.27.prisma devfor Prisma ORM 7 apps claim had no source and is gone.instructions.md, and Studio fixes that only apply to@prisma/studio-coreagainst your own database. Renewal on the 29th to 31st falls on the last day of a shorter month.POST /v1/apps/{appId}/domainsroute (the services route is current), omitted that a Prisma 7 schema'sDateTimechange and the rc.21 MongoDB contract rules needprisma contract emitandprisma db sign, and described the old shared-CNAME gap that the triage brief said not to describe. Thedeploy listsample now uses--environmentwith a comment for rc.28 and rc.29..env, because a deploy run from that folder seeds them. One new reviewer decision.
prisma/cloud-deploy-action(v1 = main at 5e15880, Oct 29) still passes--stagefor every branch other than the default one, so a Console-set-up workflow whose pin is raised to rc.30 breaks preview and staging deploys. The Nov 4 entry tells readers to keep the pin below rc.30 until the action sends--environment. That action needs a release, and the entry should be updated when it ships.Checks
