    @msc1204 @MrBwoken — could you try signing in again and say whether this still happens?

    Five people have reported this 503 and so far only I have confirmed it clearing by itself. One reporter on #168 says it fails on every attempt for them, so I would rather not assume it passes for everyone.

    Useful to know:

    • whether it fails now, on 1.4.1
    • if it worked, roughly how long after the first failure
    • if it still fails, the last twenty lines of the log

    @msc1204, your traceback dies in login, which is the first call Apple gets. Others died later in the flow, on different calls, which is part of why this is hard to pin down: it is not one broken step.

    Same thing as #176, so I will keep both open until it is clear whether this passes on its own.

    * whether it fails now, on 1.4.1

    * if it worked, roughly how long after the first failure

    * if it still fails, the last twenty lines of the log

    @msc1204, your traceback dies in login, which is the first call Apple gets. Others died later in the flow, on different calls, which is part of why this is hard to pin down: it is not one broken step.

    Same thing as #176, so I will keep both open until it is clear whether this passes on its own.

    Sorry for late response, yeah still happens.
    If im on VPN, Wifi, Mobile it always fail, also on windows, linux and android it fails too.
    EDIT: My apple location is in Europe maybe something fails because of the states privacy laws?

    Cause found, and fixed. Apple's edge refuses any Grand Slam request whose X-MMe-Client-Info names com.apple.dt.Xcode, before any credential is examined — it returns a 190-byte HTML page from Server: Apple rather than a GSA plist, which reaches clients as HTTP 503 and reads like an outage. Reporting the client as com.apple.akd instead, which is the daemon that actually performs this request on macOS, is answered normally.

    Nothing to do with your account, your password, your network or your setup. It broke for everyone at once.

    Verified here end to end: a sign-in that had failed for days now completes. The fix is a single header value, and it is on its way into the app and the exporter.

    Not our diagnosis — AltStore found it in altstoreio/AltStore#1790, shipped in AltServer 1.7.6. The same block took out SideStore, Macless Haystack and OpenBubbles. Upstream fix for the library this app uses: malmeloo/FindMy.py#271.

    Apologies for the delay, and for the earlier suggestion that a bug report was needed — 1.1.0 already stops treating this as one.

    @mawidme

    @parawanderer are you going to release an updated app build? or are people usually creating the android apk on their own? i'm asking because the app version seems behind for some time, but i'm new here..

    @mawidme see here, there's an unsolved bug with the login page: #206 (comment)

    Once this is solved I'll generate an APK on this repo (so you won't have to build it yourself if you don't want to), but right now it doesn't seem to be solved from my testing.

    So building from main yourself doesn't fix this either that I can tell. The bug needs to be identified and fixed first.

    Note: even that debug build with the option to switch to a remote anisette server doesn't seem to fix it despite my initial assumption that the bug was in the local anisette implementation, so I now suspect the issue is in a different place in the code (probably calling the python wrapper incorrectly)

    @mawidme

    @parawanderer thanks for the hint, i'll keep an eye on that issue, fingers crossed.
    i would help investigating, but i'm afraid it would take me months to understand enough needed context in my spare time :-/ awesome project, i'm looking forward to see it working on my phone!

    the issue is idk, spamming has 100% chance of getting it to work. So gambling until it works. Sometimes 3 tries sometimes 150. Everything but getting devices from account works.

    Fixed, and the current releases carry it: exporter 1.5.1 and app 1.1.0.

    The cause was not this project. Apple's edge began refusing any request whose X-MMe-Client-Info named com.apple.dt.Xcode, before a credential was examined, answering a short HTML page that arrives as a 503 and reads exactly like an outage. Every client that inherited that identifier was refused at once — AltStore published the finding in altstoreio/AltStore#1790. Naming com.apple.akd, the daemon that really makes this call, is answered normally, and that is what these releases send.

    There is now a scheduled check that asks Apple's edge every day whether the identifiers this project sends still get through, and opens an issue when one stops. The next rule like this should be noticed here before it is reported.

    Worth updating regardless of this bug: no app release before 1.1.0 can sign in at all, for the same reason.
