Cold consumers can discover the configured package endpoints and probe real resources with the downloader's proxy and TLS policy. Interface metadata and diagnostic queries leave both current and legacy homes unchanged. The handshake advertises network_diagnostics, download_socket_budgets, and the explicit read_only_queries guarantee under protocol 1.13.

Downloads report the sanitized source authority and candidate attempt. Optional socket and byte-progress budgets shorten existing waits; small index transfers have a 120-second attempt budget. Verified SHA256 cache hits issue no background HEAD request. The release version is 2026.10.19.1.

The Windows live sub-index integration uses current official xim alongside current sub-index recipes, so their current dependencies can resolve. Separate bootstrap fixtures retain their pin. Linux reports select the latest artifact per lane name and preserve the original artifacts, so an earlier same-name upload cannot overwrite rerun evidence. The pointer fixture separates its double-click and triple-click gestures beyond the existing click-count window. All installation and pointer assertions remain.

Closes #683. Provider prerequisite for mcpp-community/mcpp#824.

Validation:

  • Development build, 8 focused network cases, 12 home-context cases, and 26 protocol cases passed locally.
  • The published 2026.10.18.1 binary fails the new capability assertions. Restoring the former background HEAD implementation makes the verified-cache connection assertion fail, proving the regression check is active.
  • Layer, platform-header, platform-branch, C-header, environment, privacy, and bilingual documentation checks passed.
  • Final head ecff2f123ebe5cd4b5376cd2f993c2c6fa2dc896: 31 checks passed, with 2 ASAN jobs skipped by repository policy. Linux, including the aggregate coverage report, Windows and WSL2, macOS, and ARM64 build, compatibility and UEFI images.

Final review completed after all checks passed; no blocking findings:

  • Endpoint discovery only reads configured sources. Probes use the existing HTTPS client and report sanitized hosts; URL credentials are refused. No alternate downloader or persistent network cache was added.
  • Read-only interface entry points skip journaling, legacy-home adoption, and profile upgrades. Six query kinds are covered by unchanged-home assertions.
  • Body bytes renew the idle budget; protocol heartbeats do not. The caller retains the wall-clock deadline covering DNS, redirects, startup, and child cleanup.
  • Existing release platforms and payload formats remain unchanged. The change adds protocol fields and capabilities; consumers check feature flags before invoking them.

…ments, versions made visible, quick start; release 2026.10.19.2 (#682)

Implements `.agents/docs/2026-10-19-luban-os-one-app-versions-and-quick-start-design.md` (the design's §25 task IDs are in each commit message). Release 2026.10.19.2, interface protocol 1.14: 2026.10.19.1 shipped first with #684's network diagnostics, so this release is one later.

- One tray per home (X22): windows register with it, report their jobs and are raised through its socket. Closing a window keeps a running job; Quit asks once for every window. Windows starts it detached too.
- The host's pointer and keyboard (X15, X16, X19, X23): opensal 0.3 (Cursor, CursorImage, PointerLock). xdesk sends its pointer shapes and the window draws them from the Luban cursor theme. The window holds the keyboard; Ctrl+Alt+K lets it go; the Host key opens the menu.
- xdesk (X16–X18): space × arrangement per workspace (tile, stack, canvas; Super+m), groups on the canvas, drags that preview where they land, the maximize button's layouts, a key table (`keys.json`), state and rules, chooser/switcher/sheet/menu overlays, and the `xdesk` profile and session.
- Versions made visible (X3, X5, X10–X13): recipes' `extensions`/`status`/`archs` over the interface (feature `package_extensions`); a domain's routed commands answer in events (`domain_relayed`); no silent fallback to an installed edition (`installed_only`); `rollback --to relayout`.
- The quick start (X24): six stages, the tier meter, offers read before capabilities, searches in parallel.
- The network line and the host's proxy in a machine (X32); luban's words in the i18n domain `luban` (X12); the craftsman icon (X25).
- Latency budgets measured on CI, alone on the machine (X26); offline making and entering (X26, X28); Quick Start docs in two, command line first (X27).
- Compat (X20, `luban/os/compat`): an xdesk of 2026.10.19.1 or before gets the host's arrow; Luban OS windows of 2026.10.19.1 or before are named, to be quit from their own tray icon.

Companion: openxlings/xim-pkgindex#1001 (luban:cursors, procps-ng, core/agent-workspace/desktop 2026.10.19.1, yazi aarch64, the arch read where install() runs).
