Shell.admin joins the commands with &&, so when one step fails (for example one mv during storage cleanup) the rest are skipped, including Time Machine snapshot deletion. Now every step runs, and the result fails if any of them did.

Review follow-up: each step runs in its own subshell, so a step that calls exit can't stop the rest either.

Validation on macOS 27.0.1 (26A434), Apple silicon: swift build -c release, git diff --check and all 56 removemacai selftest checks pass (3 added). The new checks run the generated script with /bin/sh and confirm that neither a failing step nor one that exits stops the next.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Administrator command sequences now continue attempting later steps when an earlier step fails. The overall operation still reports failure if any step fails, so unsuccessful steps remain visible in the result. Sequences in which every step succeeds continue to report success. This helps ensure remaining administrator tasks are attempted without masking errors.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

Shell.admin now attempts every command in its script and reports failure if any command fails. Self-tests check that later commands run after a failure and that all-successful commands produce a successful result.

Shell.admin now uses adminScript, which runs every command and records whether any command failed. Self-tests check that a later command runs after an earlier failure, and that successful commands return success.

A shell-level exit in an administrator step can still skip later steps, though current utility-command callers do not trigger this case. This is a bounded issue rather than a broad merge blocker.

and add the `exit 1` followed by `echo second` case to the self-test.
