Repository Notice & Production Context
This repository archives the original open-source proof-of-concept developed during the Morgan Stanley Code to Give Hackathon (2024). Following the hackathon, the platform was adopted by Le Chaînon Foundation to coordinate resident intervention plans and shelter workflows.To uphold strict resident confidentiality, data protection, and shelter security standards, all production deployments, sensitive configurations, and subsequent operational iterations were transitioned to private infrastructure. This repository is preserved as an architectural reference and prototype showcase.
Le Chaînon provides unconditional shelter, safety, and tailored support for women in vulnerable situations. StepByStep was designed to replace fragmented paper-based processes with an interactive casework platform where residents actively co-design their intervention plans alongside shelter caseworkers.
- Collaborative Intervention Plans: Dynamic creation and updates of personalized goals, milestones, and action items.
- Dual Role-Based Portals:
- Caseworker Dashboard: Centralized resident tracking, audit logs, case notes, and progress metrics.
- Resident Portal: Clear milestone timelines, resource access, and personal scheduling to foster autonomy.
- Real-Time Communication: Secure in-app messaging and updates powered by WebSockets to coordinate handoffs and check-ins.
- Resource Hub & Scheduling: Shared calendar for shelter workshops, legal/health appointments, and transitional housing resources.
