A policy cannot condition access on a bucket's tags: aws:ResourceTag/<key> and
s3:BucketTag/<key> are refused as invalid condition key, so a classification
set once on a bucket cannot gate reads of it (miniohq/aistor#7456, needed by
Fabric governance).

  • Add aws:ResourceTag/<key> and s3:BucketTag/<key>. Every S3 action takes
both, because every S3 request acts on a bucket; AWS reads them from the
bucket's tags on general purpose buckets, for bucket and object actions.
S3 Tables actions do not take them.
  • s3:PutBucketTagging takes aws:RequestTag/<key> and aws:TagKeys, so a
policy can deny writes of governed bucket tag keys while others stay writable,
as feat(policy): add aws:TagKeys and aws:RequestTag for table and warehouse tag writes #282 does for table and warehouse tags.

The server fills the values; the AIStor change follows this PR.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Access policies can now use aws:ResourceTag and s3:BucketTag conditions to control access based on tags on a bucket or object.
    • Bucket-tagging permissions now support conditions based on requested tag values and tag keys, allowing policies to restrict which tags can be added or changed.
    • These conditions are supported for applicable S3 actions and bucket policies.

…ditions

A policy could not condition access on a bucket's tags, so a classification set
once on a bucket could not gate reads of it. Every S3 action now takes
aws:ResourceTag/<key> and s3:BucketTag/<key>, read from the bucket's tags as AWS
does for general purpose buckets, and s3:PutBucketTagging takes aws:RequestTag
and aws:TagKeys so a policy can keep some bucket tag keys off limits.

📝 Walkthrough

The policy package now supports aws:ResourceTag and s3:BucketTag condition keys. Action lookup includes these keys, and PutBucketTagging supports request-tag and tag-key conditions. Tests cover authorization outcomes, condition parsing, and variable-key use.

Changes: Bucket-tag policy conditions

Layer / File(s) Summary
Condition-key definitions and variable support
policy/condition/keyname.go, policy/condition_variable_test.go
Adds AWSResourceTag and S3BucketTag as supported condition keys with tag-name suffixes. Adds variable-key test cases for resource, bucket, and request tags.
Action lookup and authorization tests
policy/action.go, policy/bucket_tag_condition_test.go
Adds bucket-tag keys to action lookup and request-tag keys to PutBucketTaggingAction. Tests authorization outcomes and condition parsing for supported S3 actions and policies.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7378f

Bucket-tag conditions are accepted on the bucket-listing action, where no bucket tag value exists. A policy using them would be saved but would not grant listing. This is a minor policy-authoring problem and can be fixed or accepted before merge.
