I think the problem is the debug configuration JSON is being executed as a command instead of being used by the debugger.
try these debug steps:

1. Try running without debug config: Use "Run Python File" button (play icon) instead of F5/debug
2. Check for corrupted launch.json: Delete launch.json and let VS Code regenerate
3. Check terminal settings: Ensure "python.terminal.executeInFileDir" is not causing issues
4. Try a fresh workspace: Create a new folder with a simple test.py file to isolate the issue
