"Checkout Pull Request by Number" should match the exact PR number #8881

Description

  • Extension version: 0.162.0
  • VSCode Version: 1.131.0 (e4c7e7b1d6d060162f4aa7f8225271b67ce1df75)
  • OS: MacOS Tahoe 26.6 (25G72)
  • Repository Clone Configuration (single repository/fork of an upstream repository): single repository (private)
  • GitHub Product (GitHub.com/GitHub Enterprise version x.x.x): GitHub.com

Prerequisites:

A repo with 2 open PRs, where A contains the digits of B's number in its title, e.g. #10065 clean up and #10063 upgrade library to v5

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. in the Pull Requests sandwich menu, select "Checkout Pull Request by Number"
  2. type 10065

Expected:

  • #10065 clean up appears on top and preselected (any further match, imho, is optional)

Actual:

  • #10063 upgrade library to v5 appears on top and preselected, as it matches 1006*5 (the digits are highlighted)

I cannot say it's always first, but it happens quite frequently in scenarios like this.
