.NET: Why has DeleteSessionAsync been removed from AgentSessionStore? #8586

Closed

Description

I noticed that in Microsoft Agent Framework 1.22, along with the promotion of AgentSessionStore to Agents.AI.Abstractions, its DeleteSessionAsync method has been removed.

I would like to understand the reasoning behind this change, as this method provided a useful way to have a single point (the store itself) responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of a session.

I’ve created a PR to restore the DeleteSessionAsync method: #8801

I have several customers who currently rely on this method, and its removal is already requiring them to make significant changes to their existing code. Since this API was already in use, restoring it would help preserve backward compatibility and avoid unnecessary migration work for existing applications.

I hope the PR can be considered as a way to minimize the impact of this breaking change on existing users.
