When pressing the F1 button you end up on this page. Now the Wait for search option in not explained on this page. This option is inside the Data source part but that part also does not explain this option and imho does not belong there. The only location where the option is explained is here: https://docs.mendix.com/refguide7/database-source/ But that is for Mx7. IMHO the F1 press should point to the page https://docs.mendix.com/refguide/search-bar/ and there this option should be explained.

Hi @RCatersels , Apologies for taking so long to reply to your issue. It identified a legitimate pain point (data source properties are documented seperately from widgets, but those widgets rely on data sources to work so it's awkward that they are seperate) but the solution was not so simple. As we have matured, Mendix has documented data widgets and their properties more clearly. Data widgets are key to the platform, but because they are foundational they are also complicated and robust. Because of that complexity, we have to document the product as it lies. And data source properties are currently documented where they belong (on the seperate data source page). So I haven't accepted your proposed change of adding the Wait for Search property info in the Data Grid doc because that property is tied to data sources. But I have added some additional guidance in the data grid and list view documents in this PR so that if any other users are confused about where the properties are coming from, they can get a clearer picture and seek the information they need: Thank you for giving us information about the development experience, and the Mendix documentation. Should you leave another feedback issue or PR, it will be handled more speedily. Best, Connor |
