Refs #5795

Depends on

  • none: on the frontier now

Outcome

The interview page's panels and narrow layouts stop hiding content:

  • At 1440 px, the Notes and Activity flyouts no longer cover the note box, Ask Claude and Rephrase unless pinned; Notes has a jump to the newest note and collapses older ones (it is one 7,625 px column today).
  • Id chips never wrap inside an id (Activity at 425 px, Notes at 390 px).
  • The Summary Decisions table does not break words mid-word at 390 px.
  • At 390x844 the header (244 px today) leaves the question title visible in the first screen.
  • The sticky decide bar (374 to 435 px at 1440x900) was reported before fix(planning): rebalance the interview page layout and add a someone-else-decides deferral #7278 rebalanced the layout: re-measure and fix only if it still crowds the question.

Key interfaces

  • Interview page CSS and flyout panel render (Notes, Activity, Pin), the id-chip style, the Summary table, and the header under the phone breakpoint.

Done when

  • Each item is reproduced at its stated viewport before the fix, or recorded in the PR as no longer reproducing.
  • At 1440x900 an unpinned Notes or Activity flyout leaves the note box, Ask Claude and Rephrase usable (UI test).
  • Notes offers a jump to the newest note and collapses older ones (UI test).
  • No id chip breaks inside an id, and the Summary table breaks no word mid-word, at 390 px (UI test).
  • At 390x844 the question title is visible without scrolling (UI test).
  • The planning surface test suite passes.

Ratified in the owner's batch of decomposed children (2026-10-17).

The work-resolve-issue lane stopped partway through this issue and needs a person.

Why, in the run's own words:

The run wrote no readable outcome file, so it stopped before it finished.

    Run: https://github.com/melodic-software/claude-code-plugins/actions/runs/39099629235

To retry, remove needs-human and add agent-ready again.

This was generated by AI during backlog shaping.

This issue's earlier lane run used the whole run budget. It is split into 3 pieces, each a single change to the interview page with one UI check, so each fits the lane's run time:

Why it was slow: Run 39099629235 spent 49 of its 50 minutes in the agent step (act-skill.run duration_ms=2948352), made no commits and wrote no outcome; the log hides the session, so the turns are not visible. The issue bundles five independent UI fixes, each with its own UI test, in the 2,175-line, 185 KB plugins/planning/surface/index.html, and its gate is plugins/planning/surface/surface.test.sh, budgeted at 390 s per run in scripts/suite-seconds.txt. The sibling #7749 run shows the pattern: 47 turns and 31.5

The owner approved this split in an attended backlog-shaping session on 2026-10-18.
