📝 Walkthrough

The API documentation workflow now fetches engine release assets and a Cloud OpenAPI specification into separate directories. It generates separate Mintlify files, updates validation and navigation paths, and commits engine and Cloud outputs independently.

Changes: OpenAPI asset workflow

Layer / File(s) Summary
Asset fetching and Cloud specification
assets/cloud-assets/..., scripts/fetch-assets.mjs, scripts/fetch-meilisearch-release-assets.mjs, package.json, .claude/commands/update-api-ref.md
The new fetch-assets script downloads engine release assets and optionally fetches and validates the Cloud OpenAPI specification. The previous fetch script was removed.
OpenAPI generation and validation
scripts/generate-mintlify-openapi.mjs, scripts/check-*.mjs, .github/workflows/openapi-code-samples-check.yml
The generator accepts JSON and YAML inputs, adds code samples only when requested, and writes format-preserving Mintlify outputs. Validation scripts and checks now use the engine asset path.
Reference and navigation wiring
config/navigation.json, reference/api/openapi.mdx, changelog/changelog.mdx
Existing API references use assets/engine-release-assets, and navigation adds the generated Cloud API reference.
Deployment generation and commits
.github/workflows/post-deployment.yml, CONTRIBUTING.md, .claude/commands/update-api-ref.md
Deployment fetches both asset types, validates Cloud and generated specifications, and commits engine and Cloud outputs separately. Documentation describes the split generation flow.
Generated OpenAPI asset updates
assets/cloud-assets/meilisearch-cloud-openapi-mintlify.yaml, assets/engine-release-assets/meilisearch-openapi-mintlify.json
The Cloud Mintlify specification defines the authenticated identity endpoint. The engine example uses Precedence and named Query and Time conditions.

Generated API documentation can retain unintended null example metadata, and a contributor instruction violates the project’s writing rules. Both issues are narrow and mergeable with owner awareness, but should be corrected.

The script now takes the source OpenAPI file as argument (JSON or YAML)
and only injects code samples when --with-code-samples is passed. The
Cloud API reference is now generated from a Mintlify-ready file, like
the engine one.

Example and default values are excluded from the cleaning: a description
field inside them is payload data (e.g. an API key's null description in
a response example), not OpenAPI metadata.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Replace em dashes with colons in the CONTRIBUTING deployment list.
- Clean the description metadata of named Example Objects in examples
maps instead of skipping the whole subtree; their value payloads and
OpenAPI 3.1 example arrays are still left untouched.

- Add a Reference overview page presenting both APIs as cards
- Rename the API Routes group to Engine API Routes
- Group the Engine API pages (authorization, headers, requests,
pagination, OpenAPI specifications, errors) under an Engine API section
- Merge the errors overview into the generated error codes page and
  redirect the old URL
- Add a Management API section with a personal access token
  authentication page

Fetches the latest spec, which adds the Meilisearch versions,
organizations, regions, resources, team members, and teams routes.

"Engine" is internal vocabulary, and the docs already refer to this API
as the Meilisearch API everywhere else. Following the convention used by
comparable products (Elasticsearch API / Elastic Cloud API, Typesense API
/ Typesense Cloud Management API), the engine HTTP API is now called the
Meilisearch API, alongside the Management API for Meilisearch Cloud.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Fetches the latest spec, which adds the projects routes and the delete
routes for organizations and teams.
Fetches the latest spec, which renames the snake_case fields and route
segments to camelCase and kebab-case, and adds the route upgrading the
Meilisearch version of a project.
Fetches the latest spec, which adds the project usage, cost, master key
rotation and plan change routes, renames the project `apikey` field to
`masterKey`, and flattens the project creation body.
Fetches the latest spec, which fixes the description of the 403 response
of the project creation route: it is returned when the project limit is
reached, not when the team is inaccessible.
The committed Mintlify file was still generated from v1.54.3 while the
source spec was already on v1.55.0. Regenerating it brings back the
v1.55.0 changes (condition outcomes schemas, MCP and template tag
renames, updated rankingScoreThreshold description).
