GitHub retires the macos-14 runner image on 2026-11-02, and brownouts are already running. This removes the macos-14 / iOS 17.5 / Xcode 15.4 entry from the build-and-test and build-example-app matrices. The macos-15 (iOS 18.5) and macos-26 (iOS 26.5) entries stay.

The entry cannot move to a newer image. The macos-15 and macos-26 images ship no iOS 17 simulator runtime and no Xcode 15.4. The oldest iOS simulator runtime on macos-15 is 18.5.

Reviewer decision: CI now tests iOS 18.5 and later, while Package.swift still declares iOS 15 as the minimum. Is that coverage gap acceptable, or should CI install an older simulator runtime with xcodebuild -downloadPlatform iOS? That download adds several minutes to each job.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated the build and test configurations; macOS 14, iOS 17.5, and Xcode 15.4 are no longer included.

GitHub is retiring the macos-14 runner image. No other hosted image
ships an iOS 17 simulator runtime, so drop the iOS 17.5 / Xcode 15.4
entry from both test matrices. The macos-15 and macos-26 entries remain.
