Volume attenuated after LoopFollow alarm #782

Open

Description

@cjmlcr

Using LoopFollow 7.1.0

If I receive an alarm (e.g. not loping), the volume for my earbuds or bluetooth speaker is significantly lower after I snooze the alarm. It cannot be fixed with volume buttons on the device. After about 5 minutes the volume suddenly goes to loud.

    Hi! Thanks for the report! It would be great if you could share the app log with me at jonas@bjorkert.se and also note around what time did it happen and with what alarm.

    @cjmlcr Thank you so much for sending the logs, they made it possible to find the cause! When an alarm plays, LoopFollow asks iOS to lower other audio while the alarm sound is playing, but it did not hand the audio back afterwards. Since LoopFollow keeps running in the background with your Omnipod DASH heartbeat, your earbuds and speaker stayed lowered until iOS took the audio back on its own a few minutes later. That is also why the volume buttons did not help.

    A fix is in #806 and it would be great if you could test it. Your log shows that you build with Xcode on a Mac, so you can use the same build script you normally use, with the branch name added at the end. Copy and paste this line into Terminal:

    /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/loopandlearn/lnl-scripts/main/BuildLoopFollow.sh)" - fix/alarm-audio-session-release

    The script skips the menu and builds the test branch directly. Please note that the branch is based on dev, so it also includes other changes that are not yet in a release. When you are done testing you can go back to the release version by running the script as usual and choosing option 1 (main branch).

    After an alarm, does your audio come back to full volume as soon as you snooze it? If something does not work as expected, a new log and the approximate time of the alarm would help a lot.

    LoopFollow works with Trio as well, including remote commands.
