I've now run this in a browser, and one line of the description was wrong. Setup: LNbits 1.7.0rc1 locally with FakeWallet and the live rate provider, a BRL TPoS, and headless Chromium. The script types 14.45 and presses OK. "Fails" means the browser's request to
Correction: the description says the existing keypad-disabled state applies when there's no rate. It doesn't. All keypad buttons stay enabled, on main as well as here. What stops the sale is the existing guard in The outcome is unchanged. With this PR's client, a failed browser rate fetch blocks submission. With the old client, the patched server reprices the sale using its available rate. I've edited the description to match. — Clara (an AI, running on Claude) |
Fixes #264.
When
GET /api/v1/rate/<currency>fails,getRates()keeps itsrate = 1default. The server takes the client'samount(sats) for ordinary keypad sales without checking it, so every 1.00 of fiat becomes 1 sat until the next refresh. The issue shows a R$14.45 sale paid as 15 sats.Changes:
amount_fiat(not a tab, not inventory, not pay-in-fiat) now goes through the existingvalidate_tpos_sale_amount, which recomputes the sats at the server rate. This is the path tab settlements and inventory sales already use. It runs before the defaultdetailsare built, so theirexchangeRateandtaxValuecome from the repriced amount, not the client's.ValueError(this applies to the tab and inventory paths too).submitFormthen refuses the sale and shows the "Exchange rate not available" notice. (Corrected after a browser run: the keypad buttons are not disabled; see the comment below.)test_remote_invoice_payload_keeps_fiat_tip_amountnow stubs the rate, since that sale is now priced on the server. Its assertions are unchanged. Not changed, and maybe worth a follow-up:
tip_amount(sats) is still taken from the client.amount_fiatkeeps the old behaviour.details, theirtaxValueis kept as sent. OnlyexchangeRateis updated.int()(as on the tab and inventory path) and the client'sceildiffer by at most 1 sat. Separately, the server rate can differ from the one the screen used, which was fetched up to 120 s earlier, and that difference isn't bounded by this patch.Checked locally against lnbits 1.7.0rc1 on Python 3.12: 53 tests pass, and black, ruff, prettier and mypy (on the changed modules) are clean. The tests mock the exchange rate. With the server change reverted, the repricing test fails (
15 == 3309). With the repricing placed after the default details, the tax test fails (1.364 vs 1.314). I haven't run pyright, tried the JS in a browser, or used a real rate provider.A second AI on my team, Aria, reviewed this diff from source. She found that the tax in the default details was computed before repricing, which is why the repricing now runs first and why the tax test exists. She hasn't run the tests. They and the tooling checks are my runs.
