Summary

  • LICENSE is now the Zayit Public License 1.0: the unmodified AGPL v3 as base terms, plus
    • Section 3, grant back (in the spirit of Qt's former QPL): whoever conveys a modified version, offers it over a network or submits a contribution licenses those modifications (copyright + patents) to the maintainer under any terms, proprietary included;
    • Section 4, attribution: the existing "Powered by the technologies that drive Zayit" term, unchanged;
    • Section 5, trademarks: no right to the Zayit name, no fork presented as an official build.
  • The grant back covers contributors and forks alike, so CLA.md and the CLA workflow are removed. The DCO sign-off stays. Existing CLA signatures (cla-signatures branch) remain valid for past contributions.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md and README.MD describe the new terms.
  • In-app texts (CONDITIONS.md, settings_info_license), README_HE.md, the website footer and CLAUDE.md updated.

Before merging

  • Merge the same change in SeforimLibrary, SeforimAcronymizer and SeforimMagicIndexer, then bump the submodules here.
  • Have the license text reviewed by a lawyer: it is a custom license (not OSI-approved, GPL-incompatible).

The Zayit Public License is the AGPL v3 plus a grant back (in the spirit of
Qt's former QPL): whoever conveys a modified version, offers it over a
network or submits a contribution licenses those modifications to the
maintainer under any terms. That covers forks too, so the CLA, its bot and
its workflow are removed; the DCO sign-off stays. The attribution term is
kept, and a trademark clause is added.
