Walkthrough
The pull request adds checkout and check-in support for CDS data definitions, access controls, metadata extensions, behavior definitions, structures, and domains. It adds DDIC and ADT metadata models, tests, and checkout documentation. XML serialization also escapes scalar structure-member values.
DDIC and ADT models now represent the added object types. Domain fixed values map through an XML container. Tests cover domain operations and behavior-definition metadata parsing.
Checkout writes source and metadata for the six object types. Structure parsing converts supported DDL declarations into DDIC attributes; domain checkout serializes domain attributes and fixed values. Tests cover output, dispatch, and unsupported inputs.
Check-in creates CDS objects, generates structure DDL, and applies domain metadata and fixed values. Dependency ordering and handler registration include the new types. XML serialization escapes structure-member values, and the documentation describes file formats, ordering, and unsupported cases.

CDS data definitions are stored in the abapGit files .ddls.asddls (source
code) and .ddls.xml with the section DDLS (attributes). Checkin creates
the data definition, writes its source code, and activates data
definitions together with table types before classes, interfaces, and
programs the same way as abapGit deserializes them in the DDIC step.
Checkin accepts the files .ddls.baseinfo but does not need them because
ADT computes the used objects from the source code.
ADT does not provide the abapGit codes of SOURCE_TYPE, hence checkout
derives them from the definition statement - V (view), W (view entity),
P (projection view), F (table function), and A (abstract entity). The
codes were verified against data definitions serialized by abapGit.
Checkout leaves out SOURCE_TYPE of other data definitions with a warning
and does not write the files .ddls.baseinfo and the field SOURCE_ORIGIN.

CDS access controls are stored in the abapGit files .dcls.asdcls (source
code) and .dcls.xml with the section DCLS (attributes). Checkin creates
the access control and writes its source code. Access controls are
activated after all other objects to allow them to use data definitions
the same way as abapGit deserializes them in the late step. Checkout
writes the source code as it is because abapGit does not touch it either.
The checkin handlers of data definitions and access controls share the
code creating the object and writing its source code.

CDS metadata extensions are stored in the abapGit files .ddlx.asddlxs
(source code) and .ddlx.xml with the section DDLX which holds the
workbench object metadata - the name, the description, and the original
language as an ISO code. Checkin creates the metadata extension, writes
its source code, and activates metadata extensions after data
definitions to allow them to annotate the data definitions. Checkout
writes the source code as it is because abapGit does not touch it either.
Old abapGit versions stored the source code in the file .ddlx.xml.
Checkin does not support such files and reports the missing source code
file instead.
The shared checkin code of CDS sources gets the description via
a function because metadata extensions store it in a nested structure.

CDS behavior definitions are stored in the abapGit files .bdef.asbdef
(source code) and .bdef.xml with the section BDEF which holds the
workbench object metadata as ADT returns it - including the relations to
other ADT resources (LINKS). Therefore the ADT behavior definition now
reads the description text limit, the source code attributes, and the
atom links, and checkout writes the same file as abapGit running on the
same system does. ADT does not provide the source type of the workbench
object, hence checkout writes ABAP_SOURCE which all known files have.
Checkin creates the behavior definition and writes its source code.
Behavior definitions are created right before classes and activated
together with classes because behavior pools are classes for behavior of
behavior definitions which refer to the behavior pools.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Structures are stored in the abapGit files .tabl.xml with the sections
DD02V (header) and DD03P_TABLE (components) but ADT works with
structures as DDL source code (define structure). Therefore checkin
generates the source code from the abapGit file and checkout parses the
source code returned by ADT the same way as the abapGit TABL DDL
converter does.
Supported are components typed by DDIC types and by the common DDIC
built-in types, includes (with suffixes and group names), labels of
components typed by built-in types, currency and unit references, and
the enhancement category. Database tables, references, foreign keys,
search helps, and append structures are reported as unsupported.
Checkin creates structures right before table types because table types
use them as row types. Checkout does not write the fields COMPTYPE,
SHLPORIGIN, and VALEXI of components typed by DDIC types because ADT
does not provide them and checkin does not need them.

The Domain ADT object could be only read, so it could not be used to
create or modify domains:
- the fixed values were mapped with the path doma:fixValues/doma:fixValue
which works for deserialization only - serialization crashed because
the marshaller tried to serialize the list as an object and even then
it would not produce the wrapping element doma:fixValues; hence the
fixed values are now an XML container
- the constructor populated the content with empty values and ADT
responds with an ASSERT violation (500) to create requests carrying the
content; ADT creates the domain from the header only (the same as table
types), so the content is not serialized until it is fetched and the
object version is not sent either
- the object type had no editor, so modifications were refused; the
property editor allows pushing the fetched and modified content
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Domains are stored in the abapGit files .doma.xml with the sections
DD01V (header) and DD07V_TAB (fixed values). Checkin creates the domain
from the header, fetches the content filled in by ADT, sets the data
type, the output attributes, the value table and the fixed values, and
pushes the content. Fixed values are renumbered the same way abapGit
does.
Checkin creates domains first in the DDIC group because other DDIC
objects are typed by them. ADT accepts DDIC data type names (e.g. RSTR)
but returns its own names (e.g. RAWSTRING), hence checkout translates
them back.
Translations (I18N_LANGS, DD01_TEXTS, DD07_TEXTS) and long texts are
reported as unsupported. Checkout does not write the field DOMMASTER
because checkin does not need it.

The XML serializer wrote values of structure members as they were, so
values containing &, <, or > (e.g. "Change & Transport" in descriptions
of objects) produced invalid XML files which neither abapGit nor sapcli
checkin could parse.
abapGit renders XML with iXML which escapes all of &, <, >, ', and " -
verified on an ABAP system by rendering the result of CALL TRANSFORMATION
id the same way abapGit does - hence the serializer escapes them too.
The function module parameter builder pre-escaped apostrophes in default
values to produce what abapGit writes; that would now result in double
escaping, so the builder keeps the raw value and the serializer does the
escaping. Items of internal tables of plain strings are left untouched
because they are used to inject XML elements (e.g. SOBJ_NAME of function
group includes).
The structure checkout fixture expected a bare apostrophe which abapGit
never writes.

Describe domains, structures, and table types as attributes, not source code.
The package description says it fetches "source codes" of domains, structures, and table types. The package path dispatches those types to checkout_domain, checkout_structure, and checkout_table_type. Each of these writes attribute XML through dump_attributes_to_file and does not write source files. The per-command sections in the same hunk already say "Fetches attributes" for these types, so the package sentence contradicts them. A reader who expects editable source files for these types gets .doma, .tabl, and .ttyp attribute files instead.

Use the source DDLANGUAGE for the new domain's language fields.
checkin_doma sends language='EN' and master_language='EN' in the create request. The DDLANGUAGE value from the source file is parsed into dd01v but never read on this path. For a domain whose DDLANGUAGE is not E, the create request declares English as the master language and the description language. checkout writes DDLANGUAGE from master_language, so master_language must carry the source language.
Convert dd01v.DDLANGUAGE with sap_code_to_iso_code and use the result for both fields. An unknown code raises SAPCliError and stops the check-in. The change affects only the create request. For an existing domain, the later fetch supplies the language from the server.

Populate ABAP_LANGUAGE_VERSION in the DCLS checkout builder.
build_access_control_abap_attributes does not set ABAP_LANGUAGE_VERSION. The exported XML then has no version element for that object, so abapGit cannot read the restriction on import. The BDEF builder already maps this ADT value through ADT_TO_ABAP_LANGU_VERSION. Use the same mapping for DCLS. DDLS and DDLX have the same gap.

Strip comments and string literals before matching DDLS source types.
ddls_source_type searches the raw DDL source. A view entity with as projection on in a comment or annotation label is classified as P instead of W, and the new tests do not cover this case. Remove comment and string tokens with DDL_TOKENS before matching. Then add regression tests for a comment and a label that contain the phrase.
