Text elements (the text pool) of ABAP class are not a class include but
a sibling ADT object /sap/bc/adt/textelements/classes/{name} with own
lock and activation status. Text symbols are its source source/symbols
of the MIME type application/vnd.sap.adt.textelements.symbols.v1 in
the line based format "@maxlength:<n>" followed by "<ID>=<text>".
The new module sap.adt.textelements provides ClassTextElements and the
functions parse_symbols() and serialize_symbols() converting the format
to and from the type TextSymbol. The editor validates the content before
writing it.
ADT reports non-existing class as "I::000" when reading and allows
locking text elements of non-existing class while the following write
fails with a misleading message about missing package, hence
ClassTextElements reports "class does not exist" instead.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The commands read and write accept the new value textelements of the parameter --type to download and replace text symbols of the given class. The parameter --check is ignored for text elements because abapCheckRun checks only ABAP source code. The parameter --activate activates only the text elements while the command activate activates both the class and its inactive text elements. The documentation also fixes the misspelled type testclassess. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The new command execute runs an executable ABAP program via the ADT
resource /sap/bc/adt/programs/programrun/{name} and prints the raw list
output including the page header. Selection screen parameters get their
default values.
ADT responds with HTTP 200 and the text "Error: Program does not exist!"
for non-existing programs, so the command does not fail in such case,
the same way as the command class execute.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The commands read and write accept the new parameter --type with the
values main and textelements to download and replace text symbols of
the given program. Text elements of programs are the ADT object
/sap/bc/adt/textelements/programs/{name} represented by the new class
ProgramTextElements which shares the logic with ClassTextElements in
the new base class TextElements. Skipping abapCheckRun for text
elements moved from the class command to the common object commands.
Unlike classes, ADT does not activate inactive text elements together
with the program, so the functions sap.adt.wb.activate() and
try_activate() accept the new parameter dependents which are activated
together with the object, and the program commands activate and write
--activate pass the program text elements as a dependent via the new
overridable method ObjectActivationWorker.activate_object().

Reduce the local variables in checkin_clas and checkin_prog. make lint fails because of them.
The CI job reports Pylint R0914 for checkin_clas (19/15) and checkin_prog (18/15). The new text_symbols, text_elements, abap_objects and results locals push both functions over the limit. As a result, the make lint step of the build fails.
Move the text-element write into one shared helper. The helper removes the duplicated block and drops the extra locals from both functions.

Clear executable-program text elements when TPOOL has no symbols.
An existing executable program with an empty text_symbols list skips the text-element replacement, so obsolete server symbols remain. Treat an omitted TPOOL as empty and run the replacement for executable programs only. Includes must continue to skip this operation.

Rename the tabletype command function. It shadows parameter names and fails make lint.
The module-level function tabletype (Line 464) has the same name as the tabletype parameter of build_table_type_abap_attributes (Line 403). It also has the same name as the local variable in checkout_table_type (Line 447). Pylint reports W0621 (redefined-outer-name) at both places, and the make lint CI step fails.
Rename the function. Keep the CLI command name by passing it to the decorator explicitly. abapclass already uses this pattern with @CommandGroup.command('class'). test_checkout_ttyp_command keeps working because it parses ['tabletype', ...].

Use a unique primary key for hashed tables by default.
If a user specifies --access-type hashed --key-definition keyComponents --key-component ID without --key-kind, this line selects nonUnique. Hashed tables require a unique primary key, so the requested definition cannot become a valid hashed table after create has already run. Default to unique for hashed tables, and reject an explicit nonUnique key kind for them. (help.sap.com)

Do not swallow temporary-class deletion failures.
The generated ABAP source contains git_password. execute_abap calls clas.delete() in finally, but it catches SAPCliError and only emits a warning. If deletion fails, the temporary class can remain on the server with the password in its source.
Add a reliable cleanup and recovery path, or use a short-lived, revocable credential. The inspected request path does not log the generated request body: the source editor logs only the response status, and the HTTP client logs response text.

Text symbols of classes and programs are the TPOOL entries with ID I in the abapGit files .clas.xml and .prog.xml. Previously, checkin of a class with TPOOL failed on the unexpected tag TPOOL and checkin of a program with text symbols failed on the unknown member KEY. Checkout stores text symbols of classes in the new section TPOOL and text symbols of programs before the program title in the existing section TPOOL. Checkin writes the text symbols after the source codes and returns the text elements object to activate it together with the class or the program because ADT does not activate text elements with the program. Includes do not have own text elements and other text pool entries such as selection texts are not supported yet, hence checkin skips them with a warning. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The new class TableType maps the complete ADT XML of DDIC Table Types (TTYP/DA) - row type, access type, primary key with its components, secondary keys, and value helps. ADT creates Table Types from the header only and fills in the definition defaults, hence the definition is not serialized until it is fetched or set. The new command group tabletype provides the commands create, activate, delete, and whereused. The commands read, write, and edit are not available because sapcli does not have a Table Type file format yet. The new command define creates a Table Type of the given DDIC structure with the given access type and primary key and optionally activates it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Return a failure status for unsupported table types.
When an unsupported row type is found, checkout_table_type prints a failure, writes no .ttyp.xml file, and returns None. The tabletype command also returns None, so the direct command receives the same result as a successful checkout. Return 1 on failure and 0 on success, then return that status from tabletype.
The package path ignores checkouter return values and has no skipped-object reporting contract. Do not add separate package skip reporting based on this path.

Review comment at @sap/cli/checkout.py around lines 450 - 454:
Update checkout_table_type to return a failure status when
build_table_type_abap_attributes raises SAPCliError and a success status after
writing the file; make tabletype return the checkout_table_type status to the
direct command caller.

Table types are stored in the abapGit files .ttyp.xml with the sections DD40V (header) and DD42V (primary key components). Checkin creates the table type, fetches the defaults filled in by ADT, sets the row type, the access type, and the primary key, and activates table types before classes, interfaces, and programs to allow them to use the table types. ADT accepts DDIC data type names (e.g. STRG) but returns its own names (e.g. STRING), hence checkout translates them back. Only table types of DDIC types and of predefined ABAP types are supported. Secondary keys (DD43V) are skipped with a warning. Checkout does not write the fields TYPELEN and ROWTYPEPOS because ADT does not provide them. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The command link can now use the function module ZABAPGIT_API_RFC_LINK of abapgit-api-rfc instead of SAP's abapGit fork for steampunk. The API is selected by the new parameter --api or the environment variable SAPCLI_ABAPGIT_API and defaults to steampunk. The function module is not called over RFC but from a temporary class executed via ADT (the same way as abap run), so no RFC libraries are needed. The class writes the BAPIRET2 messages to its output with a prefix and an end marker, so sapcli can parse them back and detect incomplete output. Values are passed as escaped string literals split into chunks to not exceed the ABAP line length limit. The new parameters --folder-logic, --starting-folder, --ignore-subpackages, and --main-lang-only are supported only by rfc-via-classrun, while --corrnr is supported only by steampunk. Without --branch, rfc-via-classrun uses the default branch of the remote repository. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The command pull can now use the function module ZABAPGIT_API_RFC_PULL of abapgit-api-rfc the same way as the command link - selected by the parameter --api or the environment variable SAPCLI_ABAPGIT_API. The function module pulls the branch linked to the package, hence the parameter --branch is not supported by rfc-via-classrun. The parameter --corrnr is passed to the function module. The documentation describes the abapGit APIs in a common section. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The new command list prints the git repositories linked to ABAP packages as a table. It uses the function module ZABAPGIT_API_RFC_LIST of abapgit-api-rfc via the API rfc-via-classrun and fails with the message "not implemented" for the API steampunk. The generated ABAP code can now write the rows of output tables of the called function module - each row as the line SAPCLI-ROW|<TABLE> followed by the lines SAPCLI-FIELD|<FIELD>|<value> - so field values may contain the separator. The new command commit commits all changes of an ABAP package and pushes them to the linked git repository. It uses the function module ZABAPGIT_API_RFC_COMMITPUSH of abapgit-api-rfc via the API rfc-via-classrun and fails with the message "not implemented" for the API steampunk. The parameters follow the command gcts commit: -m/--message is the commit summary and --description is the commit body. The committer and the author can be set by the parameters --committer-name, --committer-email, --author-name, and --author-email. Values passed to ABAP may now contain line breaks, which are concatenated as cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline, so the commit body can span several lines.
