this makes a preview arrow for the meanVelocity ui that will help the user to see where does the direction points to.

I forgot that. here is screenshots from the meanVelocity demo:

here is the cell zone mode:
ui 1
'all domain' mode:
ui 2

I think that these helper arrows, if implemented, should be present for all others as well (e.g., inlet boundary) and there should be an option to display them or hide them. I think the arrow looks quite chonky, can it be thinner like the arrow that appear during transform?

that is a good idea. if @jaheyns agrees to it I will do it.

I think most people would not turn it off if it was turned on by default. and @jaheyns sayed before that he do not want to clutter the ui but I am not sure if that include the preferences page. but I can make it easily when requested.

I thought to make it look like the force constrain in FEM workbench.
FEM_arrow

this would be consistent with the hole CAE ui on freecad. but I can change it easily when agreed on which way is better

If I zoom into the arrow, does the size of the arrow change relative to the screen? I would prefer the arrow size to not overwhelm small parts.

no it will not change. but the size of the arrow depends on the size of the part/shape chosen. as you can see when using cellzone mode it will make a small arrow that is smaller than the cylinder but when selecting the entire domain it will make a larger arrow.

Yes, I think it would be great to have this for inlets etc
