TimeSlay

Slay the day with TimeSlay.

Overview

TimeSlay is designed to help you implement some of the most popular productivity methods. Rather than spending time switching between, searching through, and using multiple apps, focus on the work.

There's a plethora of nifty features; I'll be listing some of my favorites (TODO).

Docked mode is the feature that I love the most. Your day is always at a glance. You can still hover over and edit events/tasks from this view:

Dock view

But you'll typically plan the day within the larger panel:

Day view

There's week and month views, just like any other calendar app:

Week view

    • Sleep (TODO)
      • These are standard calendar events that are automatically calculated from the next day's first event.
      • Automatic shutdown.

Usage

There's currently two implementations:

  • An Iced desktop application.
  • A Dioxus mobile application (WIP).

Both can be built:

# Iced desktop app.
cargo run -p timeslay --release

# Dioxus desktop app (minimal).
cargo run -p timeslay-dioxus

# Dioxus mobile app (minimal).
./scripts/build-android.sh

Roadmap

  • meal planning/grocery list
    • lists in general
  • meeting agenda
  • Logs/instant local field changes/lock field/no waiting for network in interface/show there in queue/undo
  • People/contacts
  • Start/shutdown/review rituals for day/week/month
  • Offline write queue
  • Eisenhower matrix
  • Theme/project days

Design Constraints

The design of this app is, in part, constrainted by the fact that:

  • Google Task API does not allow for reading/writing the time of day of a due date or deadline (only day).
  • Google Task API does not allow writing the deadline field (only due date).
  • Google Keep API cannot be used by non-workspace users.
  • Integrates only with the KDE Plasma desktop environment on Linux.
