Here is a preliminary pull request for a horizontal stackview rendering. This PR contains a large automatic whitespace (strip excess whitespace, tab > spaces) cleanup, so it is a little hard to read. I would be happy to break this into two separate pull requests of the whitespace changes make things too difficult.
