Summary

CONTRIBUTING.md describes setting up and testing a Python project, but this repo is a Rust CLI. A new contributor who follows it clones a repo that does not exist and installs files this repo does not have.

Evidence

Checked at 5ce6db4.

  • CONTRIBUTING.md:45 runs git clone https://github.com/Dev-AI/dev.git (404). Lines 17, 20, 23 and 37 link to dev.chat (the domain does not resolve) and to more Dev-AI/dev paths (404).
  • Lines 53-118 create a Python venv and run pip install -e ., pip install -r requirements.txt and pip install -r requirements/requirements-dev.txt. The repo has no pyproject.toml, setup.py or requirements*.txt (git ls-files | grep -c '\.py$' prints 1).
  • Lines 123, 170-184 and 208 run pytest on tests/basic/test_coder.py; lines 162 and 231 require Black, isort and pre-commit.
  • README.md ("Build from source") gives the real flow: cargo build, cargo test, cargo clippy --bin hanzo, and says tests/cli.rs runs the real binary with state isolated behind --config <tempdir>.

What to do

Rewrite CONTRIBUTING.md for this repo: clone hanzoai/cli, the three cargo commands, where tests live (tests/cli.rs, unit tests beside the code, src/commands/product/tests.rs), how to run one test, and the PR process in a few lines. Remove the Python setup, the benchmark section and the dead links. Keep the issue and PR guidance that still applies.

  • grep -n -i -e pip -e pytest -e venv -e black -e isort -e Dev-AI -e dev.chat CONTRIBUTING.md prints nothing.
  • Every command in the file runs on a fresh clone of this repo.
  • Every URL in the file returns 200.
  • The file is shorter than today's 241 lines or the extra length is Rust-specific.

    Okay, I'll tackle this bounty. The CONTRIBUTING.md is completely outdated and describes a Python project instead of the Rust CLI. I'll replace it with instructions tailored to this repository, focusing on cargo commands, testing, and the PR process. I'll also remove all Python-related instructions and dead links.
