Official NotebookLM MCP Server #19

Description

@renzojared

Description
I would like to suggest the development of an official Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for NotebookLM. While the community has created excellent implementations (e.g., PleasePrompto/notebooklm-mcp or jacob-bd/notebooklm-mcp-cli), an official version from Google would provide the stability and security required for professional workflows.

Suggested Capabilities
To provide a superior experience compared to existing community tools, an official server could consider:

  • Native Authentication: Moving away from browser automation/cookie extraction toward official OAuth integration.
  • Source & Studio Management: Tools not only to query notebooks but also to sync Drive/Web sources and trigger the creation of "Audio Overviews" or study guides.
  • Context Discovery: A tool to search the user's library and auto-select the most relevant notebook for a specific task.
  • Grounded Querying: Leveraging Gemini’s synthesis to provide citation-backed answers directly to MCP-compatible hosts (Claude, Cursor, etc.).

I've been looking at community versions like jacob-bd's or PleasePrompto's, and the interest is clearly there.
