`MarkerView` mounts arbitrary React Native content - Pressable, state, Reanimated animations - as a marker on Apple Maps, Google Maps iOS and Google Maps Android. The map moves the Fabric host with its native projection on every camera frame: no snapshots, no per-frame JS, one projection snapshot per frame shared by every host, pixel-snapped. Live markers are descriptors with `liveView: true` in the existing native clustering and viewport pipeline. A registry takes them out of each diff before the SDK sees it and publishes the displayed set to JS only when it changes, so clustered or culled subtrees are unmounted. `renderCluster` draws clusters as live MarkerViews. The shadow node reports the native translation, so `measure()` and Pressable press retention match the screen. Taps on a marker do not reach the map, POIs or SDK markers beneath it; a drag that starts on a marker still pans the map (iOS hosts live in the SDK's gesture-owning view, Android forwards past the touch slop unless the content claims it). Invalid MarkerView input is skipped with a warning, like other overlays. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Merges main (49 commits ahead, 13 conflicting files) by replacing the branch's tree with a rebuild of the feature on top of it. - Ported onto main's provider adapter slot, view recycling, stable descriptor props and warn-and-skip input handling. - MarkerView children go through the shared overlay collector: one id namespace with Marker, invalid input skipped with a warning. - One projection snapshot per camera frame instead of one per marker; hosts are pixel-snapped; JS hears only display-set changes, not live markers that merely moved. - iOS: hosts mount in the SDK's gesture-owning view, so a drag that starts on a marker pans MapKit; taps on a marker no longer select a POI or SDK marker beneath it. - Drops the snapshot experiment, raw benchmark results and the FrameStats module (proposed separately in #66). # CHANGELOG.md
## 7.1.1
Note: 7.1.0 accidentally removed the `component-hook-factories` rule, causing errors for users who referenced it in their ESLint config. This is now fixed.
* Add deprecated no-op `component-hook-factories` rule for backwards compatibility. (@mofeiZ in #36307)
## 7.1.0
This release adds ESLint v10 support, improves performance by skipping compilation for non-React files, and includes compiler lint improvements including better `set-state-in-effect` detection, improved ref validation, and more helpful error reporting.
* Add ESLint v10 support. (@azat-io in #35720)
* Skip compilation for non-React files to improve performance. (@josephsavona in #35589)
* Fix exhaustive deps bug with Flow type casting. (@jorge-cab in #35691)
* Fix `useEffectEvent` checks in component syntax. (@jbrown215 in #35041)
* Improved `set-state-in-effect` validation with fewer false negatives. (@jorge-cab in #35134, @josephsavona in #35147, @jackpope in #35214, @chesnokov-tony in #35419, @jsleitor in #36107)
* Improved ref validation for non-mutating functions and event handler props. (@josephsavona in #35893, @kolvian in #35062)
* Compiler now reports all errors instead of stopping at the first. (@josephsavona in #35873–#35884)
* Improved source locations and error display in compiler diagnostics. (@nathanmarks in #35348, @josephsavona in #34963)
## 7.0.1
* Disallowed passing inline `useEffectEvent` values as JSX props to guard against accidental propagation. (#34820 by @jf-eirinha)
* Switch to `export =` so eslint-plugin-react-hooks emits correct types for consumers in Node16 ESM projects. (#34949 by @karlhorky)
* Tightened the typing of `configs.flat` so the `configs` export is always defined. (#34950 by @poteto)
* Fix named import runtime errors. (#34951, #34953 by @karlhorky)
## 7.0.0
This release slims down presets to just 2 configurations (`recommended` and `recommended-latest`), and all compiler rules are enabled by default.
* Breaking: Removed `recommended-latest-legacy` and `flat/recommended` configs. The plugin now provides `recommended` (legacy and flat configs with all recommended rules), and `recommended-latest` (legacy and flat configs with all recommended rules plus new bleeding edge experimental compiler rules). (@poteto in #34757)
## 6.1.1
Note: 6.1.0 accidentally allowed use of `recommended` without flat config, causing errors when used with ESLint v9's `defineConfig()` helper. This has been fixed in 6.1.1.
* Fix `recommended` config for flat config compatibility. The `recommended` config has been converted to flat config format. Non-flat config users should use `recommended-legacy` instead. (@poteto in #34700)
* Add `recommended-latest` and `recommended-latest-legacy` configs that include React Compiler rules. (@poteto in #34675)
* Remove unused `NoUnusedOptOutDirectives` rule. (@poteto in #34703)
* Remove `hermes-parser` and dependency. (@poteto in #34719)
* Remove `@babel/plugin-proposal-private-methods` dependency. (@ArnaudBarre and @josephsavona in #34715)
* Update for Zod v3/v4 compatibility. (@kolian and @josephsavona in #34717)

<title>useSharedValue | React Native Reanimated</title>
<location>https://docs.swmansion.com/react-native-reanimated/docs/fundamentals/shared-values/</location>
<excerpt>citeturn1search0 [wordlim: 200] Crawled: 2 weeks ago; `import { useSharedValue } from 'react-native-reanimated'; ... You can access data stored in the shared value with either its `value` property or `get` and `set` methods.
Version: 4.x
# useSharedValue
`useSharedValue` lets you define shared values in your components.
## Reference
`import { useSharedValue } from 'react-native-reanimated';
function App() {
const sv = useSharedValue(100);
// read a shared value
console.log(sv.value);
// and modify it
sv.value += 50;
}
`
Type definitions
`interface SharedValue<Value = unknown> {
value: Value;
get(): Value;
set(value: Value | ((value: Value) => Value)): void;
addListener: (listenerID: number, listener: (value: Value) => void) => void;
removeListener: (listenerID: number) => void;
modify: (modifier?: (value: Value) => Value, forceUpdate?: boolean) => void;
}
export function useSharedValue<Value>(
initialValue: Value | (() => Value)
): SharedValue<Value>;
### Arguments
#### `initialValue`
The value you want to store initially in the shared value. It can be any JavaScript value like `number`, `string` or `boolean` but also data structures such as `array` and `object`.
You can also pass a function as `initialValue`. It will be called once on mount and its return value used as the initial shared value. Useful when the initial value is expensive to compute.
Available from 4.4.0
`const sv = useSharedValue(() => computeExpensiveInitialValue());
`
### Returns
`useSharedValue` returns a shared value initially set to the `initialValue`.
You can access data stored in the shared value with either its `value` property or `get` and `set` methods.
#### React Compiler support
When working with the React Compiler, you should refrain from accessing and modifying the `value` property directly. Instead, use the `get` and `set` methods. They're the alternative API for `useSharedValue`, compliant with the React Compiler standards.
`function App() {
const sv = useSharedValue(100);
const animatedStyle = useAnimatedStyle(() => {
'worklet';
return { width: sv.get() * 100 };
});
const handlePress = () => {
sv.set((value) => value + 1);
};
}
## Example
[Button: Preview][Button: TS][Button: JS]
## Remarks
* Don't read or modify the value of a shared value during a component's render. Access to `value` property or calling `get`/`set` methods is a side-effect. Triggering side-effects during render violates the Rules of React. All reads from and writes to a shared value should happen in relevant callbacks which aren't executed during render, i.e. in `useAnimatedStyle` or `useEffect` hooks.
* When you change the `sv.value` Reanimated will update the styles and keep the shared value in sync between the threads. However, this won't trigger a typical React re-render because a shared value is a plain JavaScript object.
* Don't store functions (including worklets) inside shared values. This is not supported and may lead to unexpected behavior.
* When you read the `sv.value` on the JavaScript thread, the thread will get blocked until the value is fetched from the UI thread. In most cases it will be negligible, but if the UI thread is busy or you are reading a value multiple times, the wait time needed to synchronize both threads may significantly increase.
* When you change the `sv.value` the update will happen synchronously on the UI thread. On the other hand, on the JavaScript thread the update is asynchronous. This means when you try to immediately log the `value` after the change it will log the previously stored value.
`function App() {
const sv = useSharedValue(100); // initially set 100

<title>The Idea of React Native Worklets and Its JavaScript API · software-mansion react-native-reanimated · Discussion #7264 · GitHub</title>
<location>GitHub discussion 7264 in software-mansion/react-native-reanimated (link omitted to avoid creating a cross-reference)</location>
<excerpt>citeturn0search2 [wordlim: 200] Published: 1.6 years ago; Crawled: 3 days ago; Sharing memory between JavaScript runtimes is a complex topic; therefore, we'll focus only on discussing the key ideas relevant to the API. react-native-worklets introduces three key concepts, Serializables, Shareables and Synchronizables. ... After thorough consideration, we decided that Shared Values will remain in Reanimated. ... * `setAsync` - asynchronously sets the value of the Shareable on the Shareable's Worklet Runtime; similar `scheduleOn...` functions. ... While handling native events synchronously - like screen taps - is one of the key features of react-native-worklets, we plan to preserve all event handling APIs (useEvent etc.) in react-native-reanimated.
## Memory Sharing
Sharing memory between JavaScript runtimes is a complex topic; therefore, we'll focus only on discussing the key ideas relevant to the API. react-native-worklets introduces three key concepts, Serializables, Shareables and Synchronizables.
### Shared Values (Mutables)
After thorough consideration, we decided that Shared Values will remain in Reanimated. They are objects specifically implemented for animations, creating a graph of inputs and outputs, which is irrelevant to multithreading. Instead, react-native-worklets will provide APIs that allow for implementing Shared Values and other objects that preserve a state across a given Worklet Runtime and are easily accessible from other Worklet Runtimes or the RN Runtime.
### Serializable
A Serializable is an object that can be copied to Worklet Runtimes. It returns the reference to the Serializable. The reference cannot be manipulated, as it doesn't represent any standard JavaScript object. Changes to the original value don't affect the Serializable. You can pass a worklet as an argument to modify the Shareable in place efficiently.
* `setSync` - synchronously sets the value of Shareable on the Shareable's Worklet Runtime; similar to `runOn...Sync` functions. You can pass a worklet as an argument to modify the Shareable in place efficiently.
A Shareable can be initiated with a value or an initializer worklet, which runs on the assigned Worklet Runtime.
#### Example usage
import { createShareable, UIRuntime } from 'react-native-worklets';
// RN Runtime, JS thread
const shareable = createShareable(UIRuntime, 42);
console.log(shareable.getSync()); // 42
shareable.setAsync(24);
const value = await shareable.getAsync();
console.log(value); // 24
Possible flow of the Shareable example usage snippet.
#### Modifying in place
import { createShareable, UIRuntime } from 'react-native-worklets';
// RN Runtime, JS thread
const shareable = createShareable(UIRuntime, [1,2,3,4]);
console.log(shareable.getSync()); // [1,2,3,4]

The root lint script includes example/examples/liveMarkers.tsx. The configured React Hooks rules reject the direct scale.value mutation. Reanimated 4.x provides set() for this operation.

Review comment at @example/examples/liveMarkers.tsx at line 121:
Update the animation write in the live marker logic from direct scale.value
mutation to the SharedValue set() method, while preserving the existing
withRepeat animation configuration and behavior.

Markerchildren are serialized descriptors, so they cannot hold live React Native content. This addsMarkerView: a marker drawn by arbitrary JSX (Pressable, state, Reanimated animations) on Apple Maps, Google Maps iOS and Google Maps Android, with JSX cluster badges throughrenderCluster.The JSX stays in Fabric. The map moves each host with its native projection on every camera frame: no bitmap snapshots, no JavaScript and no Yoga layout while the camera moves.
How it works
MarkerDescriptorwithliveView: true, clustered and viewport-filtered natively alongsideMarkers. A registry takes live elements out of each diff before the SDK sees it, and tells JS which hosts to mount only when that set changes. Clustered or culled subtrees unmount.measure()andPressablepress retention match the screen. A tap on a marker does not reach the map, a POI or an SDK marker beneath it. A drag that starts on a marker still pans the map, unless the marker's content (aScrollView, say) claims it.patch-nitrogen-generated.mjsroutes Fabric mounts to the Swift containers and makes the Android managersViewGroupManagers. Rebuilt on current main
The branch was 49 commits behind
mainwith 13 conflicting files. The last commit mergesmainby replacing the tree with a rebuild of the feature on top of it. Compared with the previous revision:main's provider adapter slot, view recycling, stable descriptor props and warn-and-skip input handling. InvalidMarkerViewinput is now skipped with a warning instead of throwing.MarkerViewchildren go through the shared overlay collector, with one id namespace shared withMarker(duplicates get the usual#2suffix and a warning). Only direct children are collected, like every other overlay; nested fragments are no longer collected.getProjection()crosses into the Maps SDK). Hosts are snapped to the pixel grid so text stays sharp.MKMapView, so the hosts now mount in whichever view owns the SDK's pan recognizer.Validation
assembleDebug(Kotlin plus arm64 C++/JNI) and 167 Kotlin unit tests, including the registry and touch-routing tests (ScrollView ownership, drag handoff, tap, off-screen culling, reprojection).Pressablewithout a map press, a drag from a marker pans the map, and a cluster tap zooms in and expands into live markers.Not verified yet: Google Maps at runtime on iOS and Android (needs an API key), and frame-rate traces on physical devices. Google Maps iOS renders at most 60 FPS. On Android, markers can trail fast pans by about a frame, because the map draws on its own surface.
