Starter creation initialized an unborn main branch without a HEAD commit. Git worktrees and branch-based tools could not use the copied app as a baseline. Commit every copied file after assembly for both checkout and downloaded installation, including files matched by ignore rules. Preserve the caller's Git configuration and remove the incomplete destination with recovery guidance if staging or committing fails. No remote is added and nothing is pushed. Cover committed contents, clean working trees, actual worktree creation, and identity-failure cleanup. Supply a step-scoped bot identity for assembled-app CI checks and update setup guidance to separate the local baseline from publication. The workflow checker still opened starter/package.json after starter sources moved under starters, causing suite selection and dependent checks to fail. Read project paths from the validated catalog and verify the shared assembled-app runner's engine enforcement. Use the real creator for guidance composition checks instead of recursive copies that reject intentionally shared directories on newer Node releases. The grouped starter layout moved agent skills, context templates and plugin setup out of Minimal. Local example seeding still copied only the app, leaving those files out of its initial commit. Copy the shared bundle before the Minimal app, retain the existing example branches and commit history, and verify shared skills and setup scripts are committed on main. Build the app before starting the shared Preview action so a newly created repository does not depend on missing or stale dist output. Give icon-only feedback, agent helper, notification and search buttons overridable accessible names. Name the search dialog and its input, retaining the existing layout and interactions. Why
Replica currently ships one starter app. Teams need to choose a working example without inheriting another app's router, component library or product assumptions. This adds a CoreAI Sandbox alongside the existing minimal app and keeps the same installation path for future starters.
Starter creation also has a bug: it initializes an empty Git history, leaving no
HEADfor worktrees and branch-based tools. The installer now creates an initial local commit so the copied app is a usable baseline. That fix is kept in its own commit,105d3ee, so it can be moved to a separate PR if needed.What changes
The app sources now live under
starters/minimalandstarters/coreai, with common Replica tooling understarters/shared. A catalog lists the available apps. Both checkout and downloaded installation support--listand--starter, assemble only the selected app with shared tooling, and create an independent repository. Commands without a selection still choose Minimal. Adding another starter requires its source and a catalog entry rather than another installer.CoreAI Sandbox is a React Router app with CoreAI components, a Foundry-style shell, mock data, a sample profile and app-specific agent guidance. Its documentation skill discovers current pages from the public CoreAI Markdown index. Optional Azure OpenAI interactions use credentials entered by the user; the app works without them, and its README explains the development-only browser credential flow.
Creation rejects unsafe source paths, links, file collisions and existing destinations. Every copied file is included in the initial commit on
main, with no remote or push. The installer uses the caller's Git identity and configuration; if staging or committing fails, it reports recovery guidance and removes the incomplete destination.Setup guides now explain starter selection, the fresh-session handoff and the distinction between a local baseline and publishing. CI checks assembled apps from the catalog, and Hub source references and dependency configuration follow the grouped layout.
