Companion to geastack/core#72 (InlineAlert, geastack/core#37).

Change

apps/inline-alert exercises the @geastack/elements InlineAlert. It shows one alert per variant, each with a dismiss button that removes it until Reset. The error alert has a Retry action that counts presses in its message. A narrow warning alert's message wraps. A language switch turns every text, including the severity labels, into Turkish. The app owns which alerts are shown.

Each alert is rendered from its own class component that reads the store, with a div as the template's root. In a native build, a component inside a conditional branch keeps the props it was first built with. That covers the alert written inline in the branch, a function component that reads the store, and a class whose template root is the alert itself (geastack/compiler#6). With an element as the root, they update.

The manifest enables web only and hides the app from launchers. A native target would also need fonts: with the built-in bitmap font, the Turkish letters draw as ?. docs/EXAMPLE-CATALOG.md lists the app under UI components, and package-lock.json gets the workspace entry.

Tests

  • Native smoke test. A scratch native test, built with core's run-gea-native-app-pipeline.sh against the core branch, renders four alerts, taps Retry, switches to Turkish, dismisses an alert and resets. It checks the texts and the alert count after each step, and it passes. It compares text content only, so it does not show how the glyphs are drawn.
  • Type check. tsc 5.9.3 on a copy of the app, with @geastack/core and @geastack/elements linked to the core branch, exits 0.
  • Lockfile. npm ci --dry-run --ignore-scripts on a copy of the workspace manifests and lockfile exits 0. Without the lockfile entry it fails with "Missing: @geastack/example-inline-alert@0.1.0 from lock file".
  • Browser. In the dev server, Retry, the language switch and the dismiss buttons work.

Merge order

The app depends on @geastack/elements ^0.1.6, which does not export InlineAlert yet, so it type-checks only against geastack/core#72 until an elements release ships the component. The test in geastack/core#72 does not use this app, so either PR can merge first. It conflicts with #3 (ProgressBar demo) only in the catalog row and the lockfile, where both add an entry.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added an inline alert demo with info, success, warning, and error alerts. Alerts can be dismissed, and the error alert includes a retry action with a visible retry count.
    • Added English and Turkish text options, plus controls to switch languages and reset the alerts.
  • Documentation
    • Added the inline alert demo to the example catalog.

Exercises the @geastack/elements InlineAlert from geastack/core#37: one
alert per variant, each with a dismiss button that removes it until
Reset, a Retry action on the error alert that counts presses in its
message, a narrow warning alert whose message wraps, and a language
switch that turns every text, including the severity labels, into
Turkish. The app owns which alerts are shown.

Each alert is rendered from its own class component that reads the
store, with a div as the template's root. In a native build, a
component inside a conditional branch kept the props it was first built
with: the retry count and the language did not change, whether the
alert was written inline in the branch or in a function component that
read the store. A class component whose template root was the
InlineAlert itself did not update either. With an element as the root,
all of them update.

The app depends on @geastack/core ^0.1.41, like the other apps, and on
@geastack/elements ^0.1.6, which does not export InlineAlert yet; it
type-checks only against a core checkout that has the component until
an elements release ships it. The manifest enables web only and hides
the app from launchers. A native target would need more than icons:
with the built-in bitmap font, the Turkish letters draw as "?".
docs/EXAMPLE-CATALOG.md lists the app under UI components, and the
workspace is added to package-lock.json.

Tests: a scratch native test, built with core's
run-gea-native-app-pipeline.sh against a core checkout with InlineAlert,
renders four alerts, taps Retry, switches to Turkish, dismisses an alert
and resets, and checks the texts and the alert count after each step;
it passes. It compares text content only, so it does not show how the
glyphs are drawn. tsc 5.9.3 on a copy of the app with @geastack/core and
@geastack/elements linked to that core checkout: exit 0. npm ci
--dry-run --ignore-scripts on a copy of the workspace manifests and
lockfile: exit 0; without the lockfile entry it fails with "Missing:
@geastack/example-inline-alert@0.1.0 from lock file". In the browser
dev server, Retry, the language switch and the dismiss buttons work.

📝 Walkthrough

This change adds an inline-alert example with four dismissible alert variants, English and Turkish text, retry counting, and controls to change language or reset the demo. It also adds the app setup, styling, and catalog entry.

Changes: Inline Alert Demo

Layer / File(s) Summary
Demo state and actions
apps/inline-alert/stores/DemoStore.ts
DemoStore tracks visibility for four alert variants, the selected language, and retry count. Its methods dismiss an alert, increment retries, toggle language, and reset the state.
Localized alert rendering
apps/inline-alert/components/Alerts.tsx
Alerts renders open alerts with English or Turkish text. Each alert can be dismissed. The error alert also displays the retry count and calls the retry action.
App mounting and example setup
apps/inline-alert/components/App.tsx, apps/inline-alert/index.tsx, apps/inline-alert/package.json, apps/inline-alert/env.d.ts, apps/inline-alert/tsconfig.json, apps/inline-alert/styles.css, docs/EXAMPLE-CATALOG.md
App displays the alerts and language-toggle and reset controls. The entry point mounts the app. Package, TypeScript, styling, and catalog changes configure and list the example.

The new inline-alert example depends on an elements release that does not yet include the InlineAlert component. A normal install cannot build or type-check the demo. Merge after an elements release that exports the component, with this dependency and the lockfile updated to that release.

Use an elements release that exports InlineAlert.

@geastack/elements ^0.1.6 does not export InlineAlert, but this app imports it and InlineAlertVariant. A clean install therefore cannot type-check or build the demo. The reported compiler pass used a copy linked to the component branch. Release the component, then update this dependency and the lockfile to a version that contains its exports. (github.com)
