📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe release workflow now supports automatic selection of configured orchestration phases and an optional dry run. Release scripts use shared GitHub token selection, and release-status startup applies stricter token and rate-limit checks. The README describes the updated release procedure. Remove eval from the release command.
If the phases input contains shell syntax, eval executes that syntax instead of passing it to make-release.sh. This creates a command-execution path in a job that exports GitHub tokens. Pass dispatch inputs through environment variables, build an argument array, and invoke the script with "${args[@]}". Keep inputs out of direct ${{ ... }} interpolation in shell source as part of the same fix.

| ## Projects overview | ||
| The Che projects that are part of the release cycle are orchestrated into a single action: [Orchestrate Overall Release](https://github.com/eclipse-che/che-release/actions/workflows/release-orchestrate-overall.yml), which runs [make-release.sh](https://github.com/eclipse-che/che-release/blob/main/make-release.sh). | ||
| It is intended to only work with phases that are specifically marked for orchestration with a respective `orchestration: true` field. Note that you can run this script with a custom phase order, e.g. if you are re-running the release, and all projects in phase 1 have already been released, although the script will still perform verification of existence of release artifacts for any preceding phases. |

Describe --phases as a selection, not a custom order.
scripts/make-release.sh iterates phase keys from the configuration. For example, --phases 4,2 runs phase 2 before phase 4. Replace “custom phase order” with “selected phases” so operators do not rely on an order the script cannot provide.

Correct the make-release.sh link.
The link points to main/make-release.sh, but the script is at scripts/make-release.sh. Link to the script under scripts/ so readers can open the release entrypoint.

Validate the tokens used for repository requests.
If both bot tokens are set, get_github_token selects CHE_BOT_GITHUB_TOKEN here. For an incubator repository, find_pull_requests instead selects CHE_INCUBATOR_BOT_GITHUB_TOKEN. Startup can therefore report successful validation while the repository request uses an invalid token. Validate each selected repository token before reporting that release-status API access is ready.

Do not treat the rate-limit check as a repository-permission check.
A token can pass check_rate_limit without permission to read pull requests in a private repository. GitHub does not require permissions for the rate-limit endpoint, but its pull-request endpoint requires repository access. find_pull_requests then converts an API error into [], so release status can silently omit PRs despite the new validation. Check access to the repositories used by this report, and propagate repository API errors instead of reporting an empty result. (docs.github.com)

Report exhausted rate limits as rate-limit errors.
If check_rate_limit returns 0, it also returns status 1. This branch exits with “Failed to authenticate” before Line 502 can report the exhausted rate limit. Handle 0 before the failure exit, or give check_rate_limit a distinct status for exhaustion.

Small QoL improvements for this repository:
orchestration: trueto indicate that that project will be handle released by Orchestration workflow, which should include Che Operator and its dependencies.dry-runparameter can be used for the GitHub workflowreposcope), remove some duplicate code for selecting tokens.
