docker-desktop:// login handler doesn't process SSO tokens on Fedora 41 (X11), blocking Gordon and GUI login #746
Docker Desktop for Linux 4.47.0 on Fedora 41 (X11) does not process the docker-desktop://auth0/complete-login?... URL returned by Docker Hub SSO login. This prevents logging into the Docker Desktop GUI and using Gordon.
System Info
OS: Fedora 41 (X11 session)
Docker Desktop: 4.47.0
Docker Engine: 29.1.3
Installed via: Official RPM
Browser: Tried both Firefox and Chrome
Steps to Reproduce
Launch Docker Desktop and click "Sign In"
Browser opens and login succeeds at https://auth.docker.com/...
Final redirect points to: docker-desktop://auth0/complete-login?code=...&state=...
This triggers Docker Desktop via xdg-open correctly (confirmed with xdg-mime)
Docker Desktop logs only: [docker-desktop] running under systemd .... and no login happens.
Manually running: docker-desktop --url-handler "docker-desktop://auth0/complete-login?code=...&state=..." , also does nothing.
Expected Behavior
Docker Desktop should complete login, and Gordon should be enabled.
Workaround
docker login via CLI works for registry use but does not enable Gordon or GUI login.
Impact
Gordon AI assistant cannot be used
GUI login always fails, even with valid token
Request
Please fix --url-handler login processing on Linux or provide alternate login method (e.g. user/pass, or token).
