Description

Adds feature tests for user profile model behavior that no existing test caught. Each new or tightened test fails when the matching line in the model is broken by hand (a hand-run mutation pass over the models).

MFA (user-profile-mfa-section.model.ts):

  • The add menu leaves out SMS when the instance does not use it for second factors, and leaves out an authenticator or backup codes the user already has.
  • The SMS phone picker lists only phones not already used for SMS verification.
  • With required MFA, a verified SMS phone counts as a factor, so the authenticator stays removable. An unverified one does not count.
  • Existing backup codes are hidden when the instance turns them off.

Profile (user-profile-profile-section.model.ts, user-profile-user.model.ts):

  • Saving the name sends the last name too. The existing test now edits both halves.
  • A server error naming last_name lands on the Last name field.
  • Save stays disabled while a required first name, last name or username is empty.
  • The username length error shows the instance's min and max.

Walkthrough

The changes add feature tests for MFA method availability, SMS phone selection, required-MFA management controls, and backup-code behavior. They also add profile tests for required name and username fields and server-provided validation errors. The successful name-edit test now expects “Alicia Jones.” The changeset file contains two delimiter lines with no content between them.

Priority: Low

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

  • clerk/javascript#10406: Changes MFA preparation, method selection, verification, and regeneration flows covered by the new MFA tests.
  • clerk/javascript#10432: Changes MFA method availability, enrollment, and error states covered by the new MFA tests.
  • clerk/javascript#10451: Adds a visual test for the profile name error state also covered by the new last-name validation test.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 421fa

The new username-length test builds its environment in a way that hides the username field, so it will likely fail before checking the intended behavior. Fix the fixture before merging. No production code is affected.

Preserve the enabled username attribute in this fixture.

fapiEnvironment replaces user_settings when the override is provided. This removes the attributes object created by withUsername. renderSection uses the explicitly supplied replacement environment.

The base username attribute is enabled. The issue is the replacement, not a disabled default. Without attributes.username, isAttributeAvailable returns false, so the username controls are omitted and the test can fail before the length assertion.
