feat(instances): require a minimum app version in a test with host.useMinimumAppVersion - #12
Native app force update is live, and the feature maps in clerk-ios, clerk-android and Expo list the update screen as not mapped because no spec can reach it. A test needs a minimum app version on its instance, which the verify CLI has no way to set.
host.useSettings can't do it. It addresses config by dotted leaves, and the bundle ID in the path (native_app_minimum_versions.ios.com.clerk.E2EHost) holds dots. Clerk also refuses a minimum for an app that isn't registered, and registering is a separate Platform API call, not a config leaf.
This adds host.useMinimumAppVersion({ minimumVersion, updateUrl }). It registers the app under test, sets the minimum, and waits until native_app_settings.minimum_supported_version in the public /v1/environment shows both the version and the update URL. The fixture supplies the platform and app ID, so a spec names only the version and the URL.
When the test ends, pass or fail, the CLI deletes the minimum and leaves the app registered. A second registration gets form_identifier_exists, which counts as done. The minimum goes into the state file before it's set, so a later run or up deletes one that a crash left behind.
The alternative was teaching useSettings to escape dots in a leaf. That would touch the leaf parsing, nest, and the restore for every setting to serve this one key, and it would still need a separate registration step.
What to focus on
restore in src/core/instances/throwaway.ts. It now deletes minimums with ?destructive=true before it writes any config leaves, and it skips the config write when a test changed only a minimum.
Snapshot.minimumVersions is optional, so a state file written by an older CLI still reads.
restore deletes a whole platform's minimums, and changeMinimumVersion reads entry [0]. That's deliberate: a throwaway application belongs to one worktree and holds one test app per platform. It needs revisiting if an instance ever holds a second app.
APP_ID_PREFIX is a placeholder. Clerk stores it for associated domains, which no simulator run uses.
Testing
npm run typecheck and npm test: all 750 pass. The new tests cover the broker route, and setting, lowering, restoring, and crash recovery against the fake Clerk, including a URL-only change that shows late, a refusal because the flag is off, and the Android path.
Live on iOS with clerk-ios's new update-required spec on a local simulator: E2EHost got a 403 with current_version 1.0 and minimum_version 2.0, and the update screen showed. On this branch's latest code, update-required, session-tasks/setup-mfa-sms-only and session-persistence passed 5 of 5, and settings native_app_minimum_versions printed {} afterward. That build was copied into clerk-ios by hand, since clerk-ios's pin is still on this branch's first commit.
A failed restore's message and the restore's order changed, so ordinary settings got the live setup-mfa-sms-only run above and the existing restore tests.
Low. Only a spec that calls the new method reaches the new paths, and it only touches the throwaway application. The changes to existing code are the restore's order and configure's query string, both covered above.
A consumer's Pick<Driving, ...> fake needs the new method when it bumps the pin. Nothing in clerk-ios needed it.
How to revert
A plain revert is enough, once no consumer's pin or spec uses host.useMinimumAppVersion.
…eMinimumAppVersion
A test of a native app's update screen needs a minimum version on the
instance. host.useSettings can't set one: the bundle ID in its path holds
dots, and Clerk refuses a minimum for an app that isn't registered. The
new call registers the app under test, sets the minimum, waits for the
public environment to show it, and records it so a restore deletes it.

Walkthrough
The change adds a host fixture and CLI route for setting minimum app versions on iOS and Android. The request is validated, the native app is registered, and the minimum version is configured. The instance waits for the public environment to show the requested version and update URL. Pending minimum-version settings are tracked and removed during restoration. Tests cover request validation, registration, updates, restoration, and cleanup after a simulated crashed run.
Diagnostics now name pending minimum versions. No merge-blocking risk is established.

Report pending minimum versions in standingOf.
This PR adds pendingNames and uses it in judge, restore, and liveConfig. standingOf still lists only Object.keys(state.pending.config).
A crashed run can leave a pending state that holds only minimumVersions. In that case config is empty, so standingOf returns { kind: 'changed', leaves: [] }. standingLabel then prints "0 leaves a test changed, not restored". The settings doctor check prints an empty list after the colon. The reported standing hides the left-behind minimum that the PR sets out to make visible.

… pending minimum
clerk_go accepts only a whole version code as an Android minimum, so a
dotted one now fails in the CLI, naming the spec's value, instead of at
the Platform API. The settings doctor check and the application's
standing listed only config leaves, so a minimum that a crash left behind
printed as 0 leaves with an empty list.

A call that kept the minimum and changed only the update URL returned as
soon as the environment showed the old minimum, so a launch right after
it could still read the old link.

Emit package_name for Android minimum-version entries.
When native_app_minimum_versions.android is configured, the fake stores the entry with bundle_id. Android consumers match the entry by package_name, so they do not apply the configured minimum version. Emit package_name for Android and keep bundle_id for iOS.

named it bundle_id. The new test covers the Android path through
registering, setting and deleting a minimum against the fake.

…ite replaces it
The fake kept a delayed minimum after a newer write or a delete, so a
later environment read could bring back a value the restore had removed.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Reviews of the new call found it drifting from the code it sits beside:
- It reuses Platform and isPlatform instead of a copy of each.
- It lists each leaf that moved, so a URL-only change no longer records
2.0 to 2.0, and a call that changes nothing says so.
- A failed restore of ordinary settings names leaf=value pairs again, a
regression from the first commit of this branch.
- A refusal because the flag is off names the flag, checked on parsed
codes that SettingsRefused now carries.
- The fake uses its refusals and failConfigure for minimums, and the
broker tests are split like the useSettings ones, with exact text.

- The test app no longer shows its error screen while the app version is
unsupported, so a blocked launch can't fail on it.
- The spec asserts Required on iOS, and its per-platform locators move to
specs/native.ts.
- The feature map contract allows a list of states no spec reaches, and
the skill docs name host.useMinimumAppVersion.

* test(e2e): cover the update screen with a minimum app version
The update screen was listed as not mapped because no spec could set a
minimum app version. With the global native_app_force_update flag on and
host.useMinimumAppVersion in the harness, the new update-required spec
blocks E2EHost on a live instance and checks the session returns once
the minimum is lowered.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(verify): follow the feature page contract for the update screen
Review against the repo's conventions: the feature page uses the state
table and names its sub-features and screenshots, the README lists the
spec among those that need the CLI, SKILL.md counts the blocked launch
among those that need landsOn, the docs say host.useMinimumAppVersion
also records run.json settings entries, and the spec's constants carry
what its comment said.
